< nota expert: restore to your last backup

Assuming that is within my abilities. (it barely is). You would also have to assume that I am not a lazy fuck that never backs up.....

Worse yet...I save to my server only when the shit I save on my desktop takes up all three monitors. Meaning, unless the backup was last week I would lose a lot of shit I need.

Guess I will have to call those lazy ass, expensive ass IT people I hired. :(

You and Killswitch1Betty post alike.
A lot.

Dont install anything that prompts you.

I dont care if it says you cannot play a video, look at a pic, or whatever. Dont install it.

Malware cannot be blocked really, its installed on your machine because you are most likely an admin and you allow it to go on.

I do not allow any plug ins to run on my browser, I do not allow autoplay vids to run in my browser, and I do not allow ads to run on the websites.

Malware is not the same as a virus. You are the reason it is installed as you have to allow it to get on your machine.

And if after that it's not showing anything, then the text you saw under the link is old data stored by the search engine. The site's metadata has been changed and the search engine hasn't updated it yet.

And that is essentially what I am getting. Even on the first page of search results. Oh, well. At least I now know there is a theoretical solution -- if it ever works.

Okay, I've got one.

When I do a Google or Yahoo search, I get the live link and the url. And beneath both of those is usually a brief narrative that rarely displays in full and is not to be found within the page when I activate the link.

Where the hell is it? Sometimes I'd like to read the full text which accompanies the link in the search results. I've never figure out how after all these years.:eek:

What you see there is found in the meta description tag. It's kind of a resume of the page, which is used on the search engine result pages as a preview of the site.
You can see what's in the meta tags if you click "view source" in your browser.

Best solution here would be to either have a scotch or try searching for the information elsewhere. Both will work.

Alright so I just bought a Toshiba laptop ( 2016 New Edition Toshiba Satellite ) and it's running Windows 10. I got through the setup but went I boot it up it's so slow and clunky. So any suggestions as to what I can do?

And windows 10 tips in general I guess.

If it's brand new and slow, take it back. If it's just new to you, go into Settings>Update & Security>Recovery>Reset This PC and start from scratch.

my windows tip is to just be happy that it isn't windows 8 because that shit seriously wasn't meant for actual computers. works fine on a phone, though. too bad they don't have shit for apps.

also, what the hell is running on start up? that's usually a good place to start.

Grabbed it from Amazon. It just send like my old one was faster when booting up.

Not a ton. Two medium startup impacts and three lows. Though I did just disable OneDrive.

looking at the specs i'd say it's not that much worse than my pc and it pretty much runs like a dream on windows 10, so i'd be inclined to send it back if it's really bad.

but, hey, i'm no expert. i'm just bored.

Yes, well, I do what I can with what I have.
