It is indeed a friendly place. In fact we non-georgians frequently outnumber the locals. I think it resembles Atlanta in that respect.

Even though I'm a native born Atlantan, my father was in the Army - making me an Army Brat - so we moved around a lot.

Atlanta was always 'home base', but I finally left there in '94 - eager to get out of the city and up into the mountains.

As of tonight, it's all covered with snow!

I have a question for ya'll.

Does anyone here have a guardian angel that you know?

I talk with my grandmother some times. She died 40 years ago. Does that count?

And I have a totem. Red tail hawks. For some reason I fell they are watching out for me.

cajun .......... sounds beautiful. I live on a hillside with a pond in the front and open acreage all the way around. I'll be coming through your neck of the woods tomorrow heading to Gatlinburg.

Gatlinburg

Gatlinburg is one of my all-time favorite cities. There is so much to do and see up there and now after all the snow that's fallen, it will be beautiful.

As to a guardian angel, yes I do. I also have a totem - the Wolf.

Cajun........the kids are really looking forward to snowball fights so I've packed plenty of extra clothes. Like you, I adore it up there but then the mountains seem to be a place of rest for me.

Irish......its not a matter really of being good, I don't think. I don't know the why of any of it, its just what I feel.

And it's good to have places to ease our souls. Mine always seem to center around water. A quiet pond. A stream. A waterfall. Or the shore of the inland sea in a northeast gale.

Irish .... water has a special place in my heart also, growing up in nowhereville, i had the mountains in my back yard and the St Lawrence river for my front ... always a peaceful place

Dawn ... needless to say i dont have a guardian angel, but i do have a Wolf for a spirit guide ... remember i had earned mine in Colorado

Not much into bottled water but did get my bread... I had bought TP just a few days before so I missed that rush...

In case the rest of you are wondering we had a prediction of snow flurries last night and when that happens all the locals raid the stores and buy up all the kereosene, toilette paper, bottled water and bread in existence! I don't think we've had an accumulation of snow that has lasted more than 3 days here in Atlanta in 30 years! Honestly, the mere mention of snow and the schools close etc. etc. etc. It's quite funny if you've ever lived anywhere that gets REAL snow... and why everyone buys TP as a survival item is beyond me!!!

Froggy ~ Good morning. I have not understood the run on TP either, unless of course. ... never mind . Even in WI there is a rush for the things you describe if more than 6 inches is predicted. Of course, once it falls, we may be dealing with it for a long time, only to be added to as winter progresses. Hope everything went well for you.

Snow

Up here in the mountains, we get a bit more snow than Atlanta does, but because it doesn't snow often...you should see how much panic errupts when the weatherman predicts snow! People rush to the grocery store - bread, bottled water, canned goods, non-electric can openers...

Having lived up north for several years, I love the snow and wish that we got more down here and let it last for a week instead of just a couple of days.

Oh well, guess if I want lots of snow, I'll just have to travel north.

In another life time I owned a bar in one of the resort area's in colorado... and when it snowed there THAT was snow! But it was a different kind of snow/cold! LOL

Actually, I'm looking for a job down around Miami/Ft. Lauderdale... I'm a warm weather bird these days and I want to spend my weekends diving off the back of my own sailboat!

hmmm... Maybe I should find me one of those male-order russian brides to take with me!

Odd that there is so much snow in the South...and none up here.

Seeing as Lady D is gone to play in the snow for the weekend, I think I'll rearrange all the furniture.

What do you think guys? Put the beds out front and the hot tub in back? Might be entertaining.

Anything I make while the boss is gone goes in my pocket, so I think it's worth a try.

But given the traffic in this place while she is gone, I strongly suspect they come to see Dawn, not the homely bartender/coffee server. And I can't say as I blame them.
