Guys, do you ever have AH females (or males) hitting on you?

You are conflating consciousness and biology. I personally think that machines that have been built can at some point achieve consciousness. I wouldn’t describe that as being biological however. Two separate things. Archaea are not conscious, but are biological. A future general (not generative) AI might be concious but not biological.

A useful clarification (for me, at least) is the discussion silicon, as in electronics, vs hypothesized Silicon biochemistry

This isn’t about writing, but is about writers, as opposed to general Lit users.

I wonder if any male AHers have been hit on by other AHers (regardless of gender). Or is it simply just a numbers game that it seems to happen to me and other girls I know?

Maybe it's your avatar? Then again, maybe its just association. I am also a photographer. Years ago I was doing waterfall shoots up in the North Georgia mountains. I had different models coming up to the mountains from Atlanta to shoot. The problem was the distance the models had to drive to get back home after a long day of shooting. They did not want to come back. I found a local model. I started doing the rest of my shoots with her. I spent most of my time with her and planning my shoots using her....I am still married to her today.

The problem is that we have become a society of victims. "Me too" I'm a victim. The bottom line is that spending a lot of time with people, you get to see traits they have that you may find attractive. You take the chance and shoot your shot. You ask them out or send them an email to see if they have some of the same thoughts you have. Today's victims scream sexual harassment.

Or my dress is too short.

That’s sweet, but I’m unsure what it has to do with the price of eggs.

Apropos of what exactly?

That is a truly bizarre response.

It seems you have brought your own perspective to this question. You have spoken about your own preoccupations. You have articulated things that clearly annoy you. But…

Seriously? I mean, really seriously?

Yes, really.

Yes, really.

Someone sees your posts, follow your writing, reads your points of view and find all or if not some attractive. Is it wrong to try to get to know you, to see if there can be something between the two of you?

It is a numbers game, I think. Men tend to make the first move more than women.

Is it offensive for someone to find you (your posts, point of view) attractive?

Did you read any of this thread?

I have no time for this. You are writing from a point of utter ignorance.

Post again if you like, I have no interest in engaging.

Not really. Would you like to be the first?

Seriously, I've had a few interesting conversations with "female" AHers (in quotes because you never know). But none of them seemed interested in developing a deeper relationship than that.

There is one AHer whom I've known for many, many years, and if things had been different in our lives we might have hit on each other. But that was long before we were on Lit.

So asymmetric. I’ve never seen anyone question a guy being a guy.

I took this up with someone who had PMed me (note he had PMed me, I was minding my own business). He wanted me to confirm my gender to him. I said fine, but he had to go first. He said that women don’t pretend to be guys (pause for irony), so he had no need to confirm his gender.

I asked him what he was worried about. He said that gay men pretend to be women to prey on straight guys. At this point it was all getting a bit too QAnon and I gracefully left.

Well, this deserves to be an everything everywhere what-if story if ever I’ve heard one.

It wouldn't be that great a story. It's just that while we've known each other for nearly half a century, every time I was in a committed relationship, she wasn't, and vice versa. So we never let it get any deeper than a cordial friendship.

Does sound like a story outline.

Although I've had my suspicions, as others have noted, that some female authors assume male pen names to avoid getting a lot of erotic spam. But if a person claims to be a guy or girl in PMs or comments, I'll take them at their word.

And how did he propose to do this gender-confirmation thing? Crotch pics? Drivers licenses? It sounds like he was fishing for jack-off fodder.

That's truly weird. Or maybe it's because, in their fantasies, they want to be the guy who turns a straight guy bi, just like it's a straight guy's fantasy to turn a lesbian bi. (Think Pussy Galore in the James Bond book.) But it a guy poses as a woman to simulate cybersex with me, I really wonder what he's getting out of it.

Well I picked a silly name for the sake of a silly name. I didn’t think much about whether it was male or female.

The “pause for irony” is because I adopted a male nom de plume when I was first here (as explained in end notes to Wanting to be Wanted), mostly as I wanted to avoid the shit I have since experienced.

It was all rather odd. Given I’ve got a biologial science background, I was going to ask him to send me a blood sample and I could check on his (or her!!!’) chromosomes 🤣🤣🤣).

People are odd. There is no denying it.

Feel free to write one.
Except they don’t have your knowledge or experience of that situation that you’re speaking of. That’s why I made the suggestion that way, although now I’m speaking of it I’m kind of convincing myself it might be worthwhile to do after I finish HOT AND FUZZY.

As I’ve only been posting for a short time in AH (yet to fully find that place called ‘home’ here) … I’ve yet to be hit on.
