Guys, do you ever have AH females (or males) hitting on you?

This isn’t about writing, but is about writers, as opposed to general Lit users.

I wonder if any male AHers have been hit on by other AHers (regardless of gender). Or is it simply just a numbers game that it seems to happen to me and other girls I know?

I think you can tell by the reactions you get here that its much more common for a female-real or imagined-here to be flirted with, hit on, or out right stalked by another author.

I've had one incident of it with a female author here, several times from readers. But as far as other authors, or just forum posters in general go, I'm not here for anything other than writing or the forums and when you don't flirt or act like a grabby frat boy you're making it clear there's no interest so they usually move along.

I have one reader who called in to a radio interview I did a few years back which I found flattering...I always wanted a groupie

The few PMs that have come through the AH haven’t really been ‘hits’. They’ve been more like asking about my input for queer or kink perspectives.

From the rest of the forum I get hit on a few times a week, mostly guys, mostly politely, but I do get the occasional dick pic or some aggressive pickups. Since I changed my AV to be more aggressive and dom-ish I’ve been getting more hellos from queer women and curious and femme guys - much more my type. :)

It's a funny thing. Back in the day, I was dead-sure the Babadook avatar would have the ladies lining up around the block, but... no. Never been hit on. Had nice conversations with a few people, though.
I respect the Babadook but I don't want to sleep with it for fear of ruining the friendship.

I’ve had some fun flirting with other AH authors/friends, one even included me in a story. But I can’t say I’ve actually been hit on. However, like many others, I’ve had fun “interactions” with readers. One became a character in one of my stories, and at her suggestion, became my lovely avatar…

I'm the only one in the AH that I know of that has his own Stalker page, thanks to another writer.
Sorry, at first glance, I haven't been able to find it.

Working in the oil fields of Texas: I'm not sure how to put it, but I have to give you credit for that, or say that I'm impressed. I can't find the thumbs-up emoji in all that clutter up there.

I probably confused the issue by saying page when I meant thread. Sweet Witch started it a hundred years ago and occasionally brings it up from the cellar for some air.

Forty four years of screaming diesels and clanging iron. I'm surprised I can hear at all. For yrars after I retired, I had to sleep with a rattling box fan running for noise.

Always remember and don't ever forget, to include almonds in the cookies for those pesky, unwanted neighbors. That makes the scent of almonds expected, and by the time they realize they shouldn't have accepted your housewarming gift, they're dead. ;)

Just a tip from Good Housekeeping magazine for the psycho next door.
You know, if you grind the nuts, you can make butter out of them!

Not from good housekeeping! 🤭

Is it feasible to base life on an element other than carbon? Discuss.

Em
Nitrogen has been discussed in scientific circles as a possible alternative to carbon as the basis of life elsewhere in the universe. It's a possibility because it can form long molecular chains at low temperatures (it's quite cold on a moon of Jupiter) within a liquid such as ammonia (NH3).

Yes, when I first started submitting stories. I had a pic of a woman, a few of the stories were from a female POV. Creepy dudes sent creepy messages.

I've had several pretty boys turn up in PMs inviting me to chat, either because my moniker is ambiguous and my avatar is a woman (it's actually a book cover) - so they think they're hitting on a female writer; or because they've not read anything I've written, and the tight white briefs were sending an entirely different message.

I'm not a guy, but yes, within my first week here, a couple men DM'd to say they could be better for me than my husband. I immediately turned off forum messaging which means it takes slightly more effort to contact me via the author feedback page, and haven't been bothered by that type since.

After getting divorced, I've spent way less time here and I've never felt inclined to turn forum messaging back on. I'm only here today because insomnia is a bitch.

Yeah, I’ve had a few. Clearly they haven’t been arsed to read my bio.

It certainly gives you an idea about the stuff that gets sent to women and what a shitty world it is. TBH I’m surprised women trust anyone from the experiences I’ve had.

It can be awful, can’t it?

Until you experience it you don’t know how bad it is for women. Before I started here me getting hit on was about as rare as unicorn shit. Now I get hit on by the same sex just because of my f’ckin name.

But you know what the weird thing is? When I get compliments on the writing (as a woman) I do feel pride. How weird is that? 😆😂🤣
