While my first contest entry seems to have stalled at just below the required number of votes, my contest entry that posted this morning already has more than 3x the number of votes that my first entry has.

While my first contest entry seems to have stalled at just below the required number of votes, my contest entry that posted this morning already has more than 3x the number of votes that my first entry has.

I can certainly understand why this new one is getting lots of votes: I loved it.

But on the other hand, I loved the "Ghost Hunters" story too. I don't know.


On a side note: are sweeps scheduled things or are they random? My story shot back up from 4.40 to 4.44 and the other, from 4.26 to 4.28.

I'm tempted to respond to the comment before yours on my new story.. the one that said that my story was about a rape. A rape victim would never ask their rapist to continue after they stop. To me, that comment on my story was very belittling to rape survivors.

However, I rarely comment on comments. Ususally when I have a strong opinion on a comment, other readers end up settng the record straight for me anyway. So, I think I'm give it some time and see if someone else addresses it first.

Sometimes, I manage to get a nice, little debate going in the comments. I like seeing that-- unless people start voting low in response to comments instead of the story, and that does happen.

Another sweep passes through and the old stories are back to where they were a long time ago. Can't say as much for the contest stories though. Lots of votes and very nice comments but the scores, well, they could be better. Not nearly as good as i expected.

I must have narked somebody. Was at around 5.64 with 50 votes. Now it's been driven down to below the little red H at 60 votes.

Oh well. I was surprised to stay above the 4.5 marker for so long with this story

I really don't understand. I just wrote mine as a lark and people love it? Go figure.

Well, both my entries are low 4 range...

I hope I have better luck with the one that is to post tonight. I think it is by far the best-written of my entries.

My scores are still going down - from the looks of it, the people who enjoyed my stories left the stage after the first week, and now all that's left are critics ...

Well, at least someone was kind enough to explain why he/she gave me a four instead of a five on one of my stories - which I really appreciated, because it made sense, was very constructive and even gave me a chance to explain why I had chosen to write it the way I did.

It seems like the sweep did nothing for my scores. The only changes I've seen have been little: the first entry went from 4.45 to 4.43, the other went from 4.29 to 4.28.

A four vote is not really a put down, especially with the new standards that were started in January of this year.

I'm not sure that I'll finish before I go to France on Monday. There I'll be without computer access in a very rural area so I won't be able to submit before the contest entries close.

I don't want to seem like a moron (but I suppose it's too late for that), but I wrote a story for the Halloween contest and submitted it on the usual "Submit" form. It was rejected with the following statement:
