Nope, that should be it - so maybe the editors saw that it is a Halloween story, but rejected it, so that you have the chance to make clear whether it should go in the contest or not.

I hope to get enough votes to qualify. I don't think I have much of a chance of winning, though, after some of the competition that I've read. Wow.

I keep reading the general contest rules but being the Simple Suzy I am, I don't quite understand.

The winner(s) are chosen by the number of votes as well as the score, right? Does that mean a story with 110 votes and a score of 4.45 would have an edge over a story with 50 votes and a score of 4.75?

Hi Ra La, The highest score wins. A story needs 25 votes to qualify. It doesn't make any difference how many votes you get above the 25. The highest scores will be the three top winners.

Feh! The reads and votes continue to rise on my Halloween tale, yet the score continues it's downward spiral...barely above 4.00. I dunno whether it's trolls or I'm gettin a bunch of 2's and 3's.

Oh well, on to the Christmas story contest.

Having the same problem here ... everytime I look, the score seems to go a little lower.

Guess I'm going to have to wait for a sweep and see what that does

Trolls are getting smarter. A one will get swept but a two or three might not. It justs keeps you out of the contest. My worst scores on any story is always during contests and they are usually my best ones. I don't care if I win but I just wish people wold vote honestly. When I get 20 comments on how good a story is an a vote barely over four, I know it's just some low ball voting.

That's about all we can hope for at this point. I never figure on winning, but to diss someones story just for the hell of it is just plain nasty.

I have received several nice comments on my story both from my fellow authors and from readers...which, as you say, belies the low score. I'm guessin' trolls are at work.

I'll second that. If you look at the quality of the entries here and see the actual scores they get, it's a farce really.

Well, the mini-sweeps so far only relieved me of fives, so I don't have much hope that my scores will improve, or if some of the troll votes do get swept off especially on my longer pieces, I might end up with a decent score but below the 25 vote mark.

OMG - just came up with an idea for a possible halloween story - that's never happened before. I don;t generally do no sex stories and I *really* don;t do scary stuff and i think this is going to be both.

My entry just got posted earilier today and is getting hammered more than usual. It's 7:00 am in the morning here and I have 169 votes alread. In the last couple of contests, I've found that you lose fives as well as ones. I have no idea why. The new voting procedure only allows you to vote once.

Oh well, thank you to all of you who read my story and the best of luck to all of you in the contest. Believe me, I am no threat to your story. LOL

Thank you. I probably have posted in LW a couple of dozen times. It is a fun catagoy for comments. I usually get some decent scores. During contest, my stories usually get hammered a little more.
Best of luck to you in the contest. I need to read a few more of the stories. I'll do my best to get to yours. Getting old, don't read as much as I use to. Takes away from my time to write. LOL

As you can see by the numbers I'm not in much competition. I can't believe the number of votes. I'm posting them so I can see how they change over the next few days after some sweeps. You are all my witnesses. haha Never remember this many votes in a half a day before.
