Yeah, the length is always an issue. I'm above 25 votes on all my stories right now, but Cascade (28) might not survive the sweeps - and that is a really lengthy bugger (6 pages). And I am not sneaky enough not to mention that it is not far from the top contenders at the mo (until the next troll attack that is ).

82 votes on mine. It'll be interesting to see how many survive the sweeps this time. Not a bad showing for Sci-Fi/Fantasy when Horror is usually the focus of Halloween. Score's still hanging in there - not much fluxuation.

Considering I expected it to struggle to get 10 votes and beat my low score record, I'd say this contest is a success for me. Picking up new reads and votes on other stuff, too. A couple more contests, and the entire VR series might finally break the 10 vote barrier *laugh*

I'm going to try to read this weekend, so keep the "Need votes" requests coming. I'll try to start with those before I start moving through the list.

Sweeps

I've been posting my score for proof of how wierd the sweeps are. We supposedly can't vote twice and the sweep gets rid of troll votes. I lost 51 vote to yesterdays sweep. from 619 votes to 568. (posted yesterday)

Today's sweep took another 128 votes and lowered my score by two points. Where's the logic here? I don't expect to ever win a contest but I would like a little fairness. Who are all these people who vote for my stories? Why are their votes not counted (both good and bad). I have very few friends on Lit, no one knows me or where I live. I have no alts, just DG Hear. To lose 178 votes in two days doesn't make sense. Why didn't I lose them all on the first sweep if they were bad? So what gives? Here's my latest totals.

From looking at my contest scores and votes, I can't tell there have been any sweeps. Now my other stories have lost a few votes here and there and gained a tenth or two but that is all.

Contest scores are absurdly low for some very good stories. And I'm not just talking about mine.

If there was a sweep, it affected me not at all.

At present, 'Heading for Trouble' is: 4.05/38/3,672/9 PCV's.

Upon reflection, my story isn't very complimentary to males which, as I recall, comprise the majority of our readership. That may explain my low score. Oh well, it was fun to write and the ladies like it.

Apparently, some troll felt obligated to replace the vote that was swept with a one-bomb. Oh, well. I'm not even close to being in the running for any prize anyhow.

My last-minute entry has even fewer reads than yours, Jennie. Given the volume of contest entries this time around, I'm not surprised. Readers usually go for authors they've seen before, first. Being a virgin counts against you, yet still, you have a good number of reads. Must be doing something right.
