Halloween Contest Support Thread

I was expecting mine to nosedive. The first two votes putting it at 3.5 and not much happening overnight more or less confirmed my suspicions, but then it's picked up enough votes to qualify + a sweep cushion, and a fairly respectable score about where all of my contest stories have hit since the new vote widget went live.

Maybe the holy sybian counteracts all the sand sifting and tomb crawling that I thought would probably chase people away *laugh*

I've been experiencing the same thing. My entry debuted at around 4.46 and hasn't moved more than .03 points either up or down. If there are sweeps, they're small ones, only a few votes at a time.

i have quite a few votes actually, though i got most of them in the first days, and it looks like there were a lot of fours mainly... i guess that might be the new system? it used to be either fives or low votes, fours used to be much more rare... very few pcs too, wonder if that has to do with the category or what...

Again, same thing here. 105 votes but only 7 comments. Though I figure my relative lack of comments might be due to my placing the entry into Erotic Horror, when there really isn't any "horror" in the story. I was just at a loss as to where to post, since it's more of a supernatural thriller than anything else.

ah but i think it is okay in horror... first of all it is scary when... (erm, better saying not more for those who haven't read the story yet), and secondly, the way it ends makes it also good for horror just because of the supernatural stuff...

I've posted the fifth chapter of The Descent -- due to popular demand. Assuming it gets past the Lit screening (not always a safe assumption) it should be up in a couple of days.

The reason it's so late getting out is that I've been off on Safari for the last couple weeks. I was scrambling to get the other chapters out before I left, and chapter 5 was about half finished. I got a really nice public comment on Chapter 4 asking for at least one more chapter -- well, flattery will get you everywhere.

The rest hasn't been written yet. I'm not sure if Terrie will let me post any more here, since she intends to publish the novel eventually on Club Lighthouse Publishing.

Og: It's hard to believe you only get 1o votes. I've posting my score consistently all week. Score have been the same or within a point or two since the first day I posted. I don't know if there ever was a sweep. My votes have gone up as well as the reads. The comments have pretty much stayed the same since day 2 of entry. Here they are. Since it's the 22nd. It probably won't change. Probably won't be good enough for last.

The number of votes is highly dependent on the category your story is in ... there are hundreds of stories in categories like Letters, Humor and the like that will likely never see 617 reads, let alone 617 votes
