Halloween Contest Support Thread

I've just submitted my first one as Og.

Jeanne is still writing.

Fag-Ash Lil is wreathed in ciggy smoke and I think what brain she has is counting plot bunnies.

I have one story as an early draft about the sheep of doom...

Og

still no editor for my story... i pmed someone from the editors forum just now, hopefully he will be willing to edit it, but if not, is there anyone here who could give my story a read? i really need some help to get rid of all my grammar mistakes... it's about 10.000 words though...

Story submitted. :D

Good luck to everyone who enters the contest. :rose:

Two days to go.

Pssst, Ogg. We need to get some of the weight off this thread. It keeps sinking like a stone. ;) :D

Submitted my story a few days ago. Sort of weird to see a story approved but not being posted for almost a week.
Hope they are not all horror stories though. I don't want to be scared too much :)

One of mine is romance - I personally find those scarier than horror though.

I finished a sequel to one of my other two submissions already and am trying to make up my mind whether I should enter that one also ...

well i found an editor, but not sure i will manage to enter it right on the first now. but i guess if i enter it a few days after, that is still fine.

Mine are waiting in line for the opening gun.

I hope they fire it up in the air. My stories get used enough for target practice by the trolls as it is.

Mine is rediculous, hardly anything scary about it at all. Mostly a romp. Probably get scuttled by those hoping for gore and grossities.

Do you think piracy on the high seas translates to Halloween?

Sure! The pirate speedboat pulls up along side the cruise ship and the pirates go trick-or-treating among the wealthy passengers taking a couple of the more toothsome ones back for further treats. No problem. Nonconsent/reluctance with Stockholm syndrome at the finale.

When I finish the last edit and submit mine, it will be in the EH category, but it's mostly fun sex like I usually write. :D It takes place in a cemetery though, and there is a ghost kibbitzing. I think I will finish the final edit today and submit it.

Perhaps if you could weave some kind of legend into it that would predate Halloween - in other words, your little pirate event would be what started Halloween, the way Al Gore started the internet.

Or perhaps the ghost of one of the characters killed in your pirate event could be haunting a present day descendant of the adventure. Or maybe the present day descendant is the narrator, repeating the story handed down over the generations, and at the end of the story, the ghost shoves the narrator down the stairs and kills him/her. That could be considered tacky way to make the connection, but it could qualify you for the contest.

(Hell, I have no clue. I'm making this up as I go along. I just like to type.)

Wait, Mark_Ilaan invented Halloween?

I was thinking more along the lines of modern-day pirates pulling a halloween prank, but your idea bears some thought.

:D Man, would I like to have the royalty rights on that.

I'm going to need to find someone to help me with my final edits. My editor has gone AWOL and Molly's too ill and too busy at present. Anyone have any ideas who to ask?

You can ask in the Editor's Forum for help. ;)

I just submitted my entry. It should post tonight at 9:00 PDT, which is midnight Eastern time.

I finished mine...
not submitted yet. I may need some feedback on what category it should be in. I just informed an editor of my category quandary and if they have time to look at it.

I just posted my entry, a two chapter 17,000 word monster that I posted in the Novel category.

Normally, I only write fiction, but I decided to write a true story this time about my family, my Mom, my sister, my aunt, my grandmother, my sister-in-law, and of course, my cousin, the star of the story.

It's a touching story with lots of sentiment.

Good luck to everyone.
