have race relations in the US deteriorated since obama came to power?

Yes.

The cause is the racist president, his racist administration including his racist attorney general, and the administration's racist supporters.

A black man being put into the White House by all of the blacks, most of the latinos and a lot of whites could have been seen as the triumph of Dr. Kings speech. Instead it is marginalized to justify the false narrative on race required by Democrats to keep black and latino voters corralled.

Obama himself telegraphed how he would use race to insulate himself from charges of being unqualified (which he unquestionably was, and is) when he played the race card in the Democratic primary against the Clintons.

Every single day on lit at least one administration apologist plays the race card to ascribe to administration detractors racism for policies that they didn't like under Lyndon Johnson or Woodrow Wilson or James Carter or that (apparent) racist William Clinton (previously known as the first black president).

You seem a little more butthurt than usual.

I like it.

I don't even think it should matter. The people accusing others of playing the card are the ones most concerned about his race.

Exactly. They are also the ones that start Obama race card threads and they usually have the most posts in race threads.

No. The ones that have spent six years actually playing the race card, are clearly the most concerned. Defending oneself from spurious claims of racism DAILY is not "being the most concerned about his race."

The only 1/2 of his genome that matters to his apologists are those that can hide behind his skin color to throw rocks instead of debating his actual, ineffectual policies.

Obama is also clearly black so far as America goes.

Except when he wasn't black enough when Dems wanted Hilary.

Clearly black.. Is that like translucent?

What, exactly, is "black' about him?

Were either Johnson or Wilson (!) or Carter or Clinton ever widely accused of not even being American?

There's your difference.

There are white Americans who are made crazy by thinking of a black family living in the white house sleeping in beds, using the toilets.

Look, I think everyone has said or thought racist things. I have said or thought racist things. EVERYONE DOES, regardless of race, regardless of class, toward EVERYONE ELSE. But there is also nothing wrong with confronting one's own prejudices, and questioning how those ideas fit together as part of a larger narrative. I myself have been accused of racism, misogyny, and all other manner of white, male, hetero privilege. Sometimes those claims had some basis, and it led me to a broader understanding. Most of the time, of course, they did not.

The issue I have is that tons of people these last few years try to tell me that THIS IS NOT A RACE THING, while consistently framing their grievances in the language of race. What I see are people rushing to defend the worst, most bigoted scumbags imaginable, all against the threat of unarmed black teenagers wearing hoodies. What I see are people who consistently side with power, against those who have none, and what I see are lots of people I know making it very clear that, to them, black lives simply matter less. Or gay lives. Or poor lives. Or those of sexually-active women who have chosen not to sleep with the speakers personally. And nothing you can say to defend yourself is going to justify these people you've thrown in with, or the positions you find yourself supporting.

What's that line again? "Methinks thou doth protest too much."

Apparently race relations is not one of the President's concerns.

No one has explained to me why it's his fucking problem that cops routinely shoot unarmed black men and get away with it. No one has explained to me why it's his fucking problem that courts overwhelmingly issue harsher, longer sentences for black offenders than for white offenders who commit the same crimes. No one has to explained me yet why it's his fucking problem that a good chunk of white America make the rest of us look like small-time, small-town idiots. Tell me, what have YOU done to improve race relations? What have you done to do ANYTHING but make this conversation a fucking shitshow? Me, I've focused on conducting myself as part of a national dialogue, as part of a younger electorate that worries about diversity, worries about equality, worries about working together to improve life for ALL Americans.

So far as I can tell, all you and most of these posters have done is bitch.

Should he be a part of that dialogue?

Cops shoot people of all colors.

Where to begin?

Cops do not routinely shoot unarmed black, white or tan men. On the rare occasion that they do, it is often justified. When it is not justified they do not "get away with it."

Black men shoot at cops occasionally and at unarmed black men frequently. You didn't mention that as a problem.

Sentencing is a problem. Ron Paul has proposed doing something about it. Harry Reid won't let it come to the floor and his co-sponsor Cory Booker decided not to promote the bipartisan legislation. Obama did not get behind it either. Nor did he instruct his justice Department to engage in the sort of selective enforcement he decided upon to bribe the Latino Vote. Blacks are considered a given and so not need to be given anything.

Working to make this and even better utopia?

Since women now outnumber men on universities, in degrees, in admission to grad school are we "equal" there yet?

What happens if some people don't want to do the work required to be equal? Shall we keep holding some back, or shall we force some to excel?
