Hey, gun nuts!

Of course, the fact is that I was replying to a post with irrelevant content which drew no commentary from you at all.

Post some gun porn. Show me your favorite gun. Or better yet, answer the question I posted last night.

Just barely missed one a few months ago for $2k.

The SVD, not the woman. The woman would probably be a little more expensive... at least more than a can of corn I'd assume.

Much better than the M16's from my era. I've never fired the modern M4's or 16's or whatever number they have now.
M4 carbine/M16 musket. Looks like Ruger got ahold of a decent design and did the Ruger thing to it. I want one. You just increased the price of my wish list by a thousand dollars or so.

A can of corn would never work for you lil chihuahua.

A Legion SVD Tiger in 7.62 x 54.

They're a hell of a lot of fun, but people want way too much for them currently, mainly because they haven't been imported since the 90s.

I know, because I'm not a dumbfuck scumbag like your lover.

Ah, I think you told me about that once in a PM. It's cool looking. How about my question...how many do you own and which five would you keep if you had to choose just five?

This is boring as shit. STFU, both of ya.

It's not big game hunting, it's pest control. Try hitting those 12 by 3 inch little bastards at 300 and 400 yards on a windy day. It will test your rifle and your marksmanship skills to the max.

Has it ever occurred to you that you just might be trying to converse with an idiot?

or if you want to lose all feeling in your gun hand, go there. :D

Most big-bore handgun cartridges are surprisingly manageable with the right gun. Not the .500 though

.460 S&W - I was surprised that they weren't worse. I didn't notice much difference from .44 mag - but granted I was shooting them from a big assed X Frame with a ported barrel. The big surprise was the muzzle blast but that was fun. The .500 S&W though. Ouch.

I have culled the herd recently, but I still have more than I will admit to.

If I had to pick 2 for your prototypical SHTF situations, I'd say my Arsenal 74 in 5.45x39, with 4x POSP optics. effective out to about 300 meters, and then something in 9mm.

If I had to pick 5, it would get too difficult.

I know. I was just giving you shit.
Yeah, when you need that kind of power, might as well have a rifle.
I was thinking that when I looked at your link. Why not just a sawed off 12-gauge?
Well then stop talking to him.
No shit. He made himself look like a colossal numbnut last night, so we have to read the fallout now, the resulting tantrum.

I had forgotten about the Arsenal. I may have to expand my list yet again.

Hence the reason I have a tactical 12 ga. (short barrel, long mag). Some guys might have something like this (note, it's broken down for storage behind the plane seat):

But, if a long gun is just too much to deal with, then those big hand-slappers are good. Guys I know have the holster that secures the gun to your chest so it's with you at all times and is easy access. It works quite well when out in the bush on a wheeler.

That's very cool...first thing I thought of was Zoe from the Firefly series:

I was also thinking the JIC series would make sense for behind the seat: http://www.mossberg.com/products/default.asp?id=28

Why .500 cal, though? Isn't .44 mag enough?

The stock-less Mossberg and the Ranchhand ( the gun the chick is holding) are novelty guns at best. They are meant to be fired from the hip, they do look cool in the movies tough.

I have two guys who work for me who have the .500 handguns. Each has been in a position where they were a millisecond from pulling the trigger to dump a Griz in a DoLP shoot. Once someone's been that close, they want every bit of power they can get to stop that bear. I don't consider myself that handy with a handgun, so I have my 12ga. loaded with a bit of Black Magic from Brenneke. I never really wish to use it other than for practice, now and then.

The big caliber lever rifles pack a huge punch up close. They cost more than the 12 gauge and I'd feel bad banging one around.

That Mossberg is a good serviceable weapon. (I'm about to give a M500 to one of my boys, but with a wood stock and vent rib.) You might want to shoot one with just the pistol grip before you buy it. Magnum loads can be hard on the wrist. I prefer the buttstock, but I'm old fashion. (Plus, it can be a cane if I need it in the woods) And if you're out for bear protection, why would you not have a magnum load?
