Hey, gun nuts!

In other news, I don't like this gun, the XDS. It does everything it's supposed to do, it's safe, packs a serious punch, is pretty small, by all accounts never misfires, I'm pretty accurate with it, and I just...don't have any affinity for it. It's ugly and chunky, like a Glock, a workhorse of a gun, and I look at it and basically go, meh, whatever. It also doesn't carry especially comfortably in my preferred spot, over my right kidney. Leaves a dent. So I'm wondering if I should ditch it and buy something different, or is this just new gun growing pains? Any thoughts? I'm considering an LC9, which I've always liked.

I haven't had an LC9, but from everything I've read about it, it seems like a perfect conceal carry piece. I think we discussed the LCP at length, and I would almost guarantee that it kicks harder than the XDS you have. Stay away from anything with too small of a frame, especially if you have larger hands, you want to be able to get a good grip on it.

glocks are pure functionally beauty...
Bleah! Blocky, ugly things. A katana is pure functional beauty. A Glock is like a nasty machete in the Hutu/Tutsi conflict. Hideous, and oh, so very, very effective.

Yeah...I have a friend who has an LCP. The guy I bought the PPk from; he sold it to me because the LCP was so much more concealable, but I have to wonder if he can shoot it straight, because he's my size, 6'3" and with large hands. I'll see if I can hook up with him for a range day, but just holding them, I agree. Tiny and uncomfortable. Might as well have a Derringer. The LC9 looks about right, though, and feels great in my hand.

You stick a gun in your pants and wonder why it is not comfortable. ;) OWB carry is the way to go.

That was an intelligent statement. Only morons think guns are phallus replacements.

It was in reference to the guy a page ahead who made the old claim that people with guns have small units and are scared. I was trying to be humorous.

Re. Fucking. Lax.

Need a loan?

Just got a sword in the mail today. I've already cut my finger on it.

I've lost count how many blades I have. Most are just display. I sliced my hand with a switchblade my grandpa sent me once. I was opening the clamshell and sliced myself on the open blade. Boy did mom give him an ass chewing. Didnt do much though, as some of my coolest pieces came from him

I'm starting to accumulate them, too. Three swords and I'm not even sure how many axes and knives. It's getting silly.

Ive got a big ass kriss style sword as well. Its about 4 feet long.

1 katana set and two that are seperate, an 1861 repro artillery sabre. More pocket knifes then I know what to do with. My prized in the collection though, is a ww2 navy Kbar that belonged to my great grandfather. He gave it to my Great Uncle when he went into the navy, and when he passed a few months back, my Grandma gave it to me. If that fucker could talk...

Looks cool. I don't have a lot of interest in those "fantasy swords," personally, I prefer repros and actual pieces with historical accuracy. I picked up a straight, Japanese style sword at a gun show for cheap and I've lately been practicing cuts with it...and it's startlingly agile and smooth. I agree on the Ka-Bar! I'd love to hear the stories it could tell.

I like both. I want to get a claymore and a rapier, just haven't gotten to it. Ive been thinking about taking the sabre out and doing the drills as a form of exercise. A section of my artillery manual covers saber drills for mounted and non mounted troops. I'd love to learn the katana, but I'm afraid if I hit a pumpkin or somethin ill bend the blade.
