hmmm...i don't know how i feel about this...the KKK shouldn't be honored

that would be a valid argument if the whole of the army were a christian organization
but since our military supports all religious affiliations, no particular religious group is waging war, the US, however, is

you know i find it amazing that when its the KKK you are painting with a braod brush. But when some attacks christan groups. Its oh no its only one or two people.

let's argue events in this century

ok
how many deaths can be connected to the KKK.
how many deaths can be connected to christans groups.

you know after the year 2000. Everything else doesn't count

Hey, everyone here says they're fucked up and we know we're right. So, we'll just toss rocks at them while we drive along. Maybe jump out, hitch one to the back of our truck, and drag him along for awhile.

As long as the cops aren't looking... ;)

oh geez...you just reminded me of why i am even more disgusted with them

the group in jasper texas drug that poor man behind their truck until he died

sick fucks

because it is very different

christian groups aren't organizing and promoting hate and violence
and christians don't support the individual members who do go out on their own and do these things

lol i am not supporting them. Stop being silly. They have the right to adopt a highway. Just like if a christan group wanted to. Get over it

Okay, maybe she did.

I amnot worried. She is saying things about me that are not true. I'll deal with it. she has a warped view on life anyways

Okay, screw the concept of organisational unity.

Let's think large scale unity.

Now hug and make up.

i don't think they should have that right

I don't think that should have put the sign up and I don't think that the state should have allowed them to even adopt the highway to begin with. It does not seem right for the state to accept money from hate groups such as that.

So who gets to decide who can have freedom of speech? Who gets to draw the line? What happens when that line happens to get drawn so that it takes away your freedom too?

A quote from the ACLU ...

It is easy to defend freedom of speech when the message is something many people find at least reasonable. But the defense of freedom of speech is most critical when the message is one most people find repulsive. That was true when the Nazis marched in Skokie. It remains true today. ...

The principle is as simple as it is central to true freedom of speech: those who do wrong are responsible for what they do; those who speak about it are not.

I had just supposed that the method of protest would be an organized dumping of trash along their section of highway. If they had to spend more time making it spiffy, they would have less time for other activities.

i'm not upset with anybody

just the KKK

and you'd have to kill me to make me hug one of them

Free speech for one is free speech for all. Period. Ban hate groups? Sounds good, but who gets to decide which groups are hate groups? The KKK is an easy choice, but what about the Black Panthers? The Nation of Islam? The 700 Club? Literotica?

Inciting to riot is against the law. So is criminal conspiracy. We have plenty of laws to protect us from dangerous people without asking the government to read our minds and hearts. So long as they break no laws, the Klan has the same rights you do. That's the American way.

We do. We're Lit. We're all knowing.

I am curious, what if this was a gay/lesbian group that wanted to pick up trash and have their name on the sign? I am willing to bet some fundamentalist group would protest it based on their beliefs. Would it be ok to exclude them because some group finds them offensive? Absolutely not. Speech and free association are protected and should be protected. Your feelings about the speech and group are immaterial.

We do. We're Lit. We're all knowing.

I didn't get that memo. But for some reason, it makes sense to me.
