I've never seen one. I didn't even know about this one til I saw the pictures a couple of days later.

Yeah, but I think it was just one with the pics being taken from different locations. People can submit their weather pictures/videos to the Weather Network's website.

I believe so, but don't think it's as strong as a tornado.

Here are some definitions that I found:

Funnel cloud: a rotating column of air and condensation that is visible once the air picks up dust particles. It is formed by unstable air conditions from rapidly-forming thunderstorm cells.

Waterspout: formed when a funnel cloud builds or moves over a large body of water. It can capsize watercraft and damage waterfront properties.

Tornado: a violent vortex of air formed where a layer of humid surface-level air meets a layer of cooler air above. It can build either from the cloud down or from the ground up, and can cause serious damage to property and people in its path.
