My mom just called to tell me that her boyfriend of two weeks proposed, and she said yes. This is the WORST IDEA EVER. I am trying to be supportive. I love my mom. I know she's been lonely. But... WHAT THE HELL?????????

And.... AND!!!! Instead of getting married at MY WEDDING (which I fucking flipped out over when she suggested it because... aaaaaaaaaaahy!) She's going to get married ON MY BIRTHDAY INSTEAD! Because that's SO MUCH BETTER!!!!!!!!

I am going to drink myself into oblivian at the New Year's Party tonight.

Ouch, I don't blame you....maybe she'll realise tis not a good idea when she is less excited..............and we all need to have a tantrum at times and as someone with wedding plans you are entitled to have as many as you need.............weddings should be so fab and yet there's always so much stress. :rose:

Here's the thing. She's dated him two weeks. They are both mentally ill. He is much younger than her. She hasn't been in a relationship in a decade, because a decade ago she realized that she isn't healthy enough to maintain a healthy relationship. Once they get married, she will lose about half of her disability and social security benefits.

I know she's been lonely. I know that they like each other. But that's not a good reason to get married, is it? On the one hand, I feel like she is being completely unreasonable and jumping into something that she really shouldn't. On the other hand, I feel like I'm just being a brat.

You are so not being a brat.............you are considerate and loving and concerned. She is lucky to have you.............maybe New Year and loneliness have got the better of her...............concentrate on you tonight, she will be there to talk to tomorrow *hugs you* :kiss:

Between you and me I often have a foot stamping session...........helps no end with giving me a sore foot and slightly fewer frustrations ;)

I hear helicopters flying around my building... I wonder if the Canadian Air Force is allowed in NYC restricted airspace! ;)
