How popular is femdom?

When looking at stories sissy starts at the crossdressing first, that is how most start. Weather it is natural or female led that is what starts it. Most femdom stories revolve around the female Dom and Her power over the sub, this always starts with how She develops the Dom/sub relationship and to sissy that is the most interesting part.
On lit it would appear there are quite more males than females interested in the subject of Dom/sub but with the male Dom, just an observation.

Is femdom popular or unpopular here?

I’m considering how that would effect potential future works.

Femdom is quite popular here, both in written and photo form. I'm sure your future stories will be popular -- if well written and provocative. ;)

I don't know if FEMDOM is popular here or not. It is a kink and a genre that I look for but have only seen a few threads at most. Most discussions are from the male/s side and there doesn't appear to be a lot of input from the female/D side. Maybe there are just not many dominant women out there or ones willing to be open about it. If so I would certainly like to find one.

However, if you should not judge your writing by how popular it is as a subject. If you enjoy writing about FEMDOM, then do it. I am sure there are a few of us out there that will read and enjoy your stories.

I recently wrote a story that has femdom themes and joined this website because I didn’t know what else to do with the story than post it online, however it hasn’t got much traction.

Is femdom popular or unpopular here?

I think femdom is popular but there definitely a lack of Dommes here and when they do show up they get pounced on. I also think there are a lot who like the idea but don’t really want to be controlled. I’ve heard the term “lead from the bottom”.

As to your story. Write what you want. Writing erotic literature is as much for the writer as it is For the reader.

It would seem to me that the Dommes tend to be more lurkers. Which oddly is exciting to think about... it is trying to lure them out that is the challenge.

But I suspect there is a very good reason to be lurking.

I think you’re right. Feel free to give any feedback on my first story if it’s what you’re into :)

Someone did an amazing analysis of the popularity of all of the different categories, unfortunately femdom is not among them.

The categories seem to be split up, not only to make it easier to find a particular interest, but also to protect readers from stumbling upon something they may find particularly objectionable. For example, the most popular (most written/read) category is 'taboo/incest'. Any story involving incest is automatically put in that catagory, supposedly regardless of what other content there may be. So gay and lesbian stories, which are usually separated, are combined if they include any sibling contact.

'Loving Wives' is the second most popular category. As I understand, (I may be wrong), it was originally supposed to be a place for stories of cheating and cuckolding, but it also has stories of loyal lovers. That category section is notorious among authors for getting the most abusive comments from readers, disappointed by any type of content.

As was said earlier in this thread, many men might be triggered by a dominant female and would down-vote or chastise the author for offending them if they came across the subject while looking for a BDSM story. The same thing apparently happens to story's in 'group sex' that have any Male on Male content.

It could be good to have a special section just for 'femdom' but unfortunately it seems that the categories seem to be more-or-less etched in stone these days.

Here is the list of categories with their popularity analysis, provided by a Lit author:

I posted here a statistical analysis of the results of all the stories published on LitE. And I said there that the results weren't meaningful because chapters have such a different look than stand-alone stories. And I promised to publish a statistical analysis of stand-alone stories.

This is the results of stories taken seven days after they were published, for stories published on 9/7 through 10/15 except for stories published on 10/2. I'm only going to analyze stories in categories that I consider "stories", which are:

You'll get an audience.
If there is incest as well, it might do especially well. i.e: dominant/seducing older-sister/mother. There's a mother/son series out there and one of the chapter's is about pegging, and it's one of the few chapters marked as "hot".
scratch that, younger sister is hot too.

Just read your story; I enjoyed it :). Your descriptions of Angela are exactly the kind of woman I fantasize about.

I'm not built like the cocky young man, but would absolutely love to have been in his position. I'm a basic (masculine) guy, but am very into the idea of this. Admittedly, haven't done anything like this before, but a guy can dream ;)

Keep writing - I'm interested in seeing where you go from here

Thank you so much I'm really glad you enjoyed her.

I recently wrote a story that has femdom themes and joined this website because I didn’t know what else to do with the story than post it online, however it hasn’t got much traction.

Is femdom popular or unpopular here?

I’m considering how that would effect potential future works.

Share the link. We enjoy it and would love to read it and perhaps learn some new fun things to try.

EDIT: I found where you did later on in the thread.

Here is the list of categories with their popularity analysis, provided by a Lit author:

It would be great if Femdom/Mistress/Domme/Etc had its own. It is generally thrown in with BDSM/Fetish and is then drown out by all the Dom Male/Sub Female posts. It would be nice for it to at least have a subsection.

To a certain extent the typical societal gender roles. Men not wanting to admit they are submissive giving the false notion they are “beta” or “weak”.

I think women need to protect themselves here from being overwhelmed.

Fake men on here being more predatory.

Its insecurity. I love it and am so thoroughly fulfilled by my Mistress Wife. It didn't start this way. She was very submissive, but then one weekend suggested she wanted to explore her dominant side for once. She went out and bought the necessary props to fulfill her curiosity and we haven't looked back. Well, I wouldn't say never. We do switch on occasion (which is in itself something frowned upon by many).

It has long been my experience on this site, even in the BDSM talk forum, that femdom is simply not very popular or well accepted, at least by the majority of people who use this site and read erotic fiction. The other dynamic- male dominant/female sub, seems to be far more accepted, and as mentioned, I suspect that is due to the more conservative view of traditional gender roles, as well as the view that men who like to be dominated by women are "Soft" or "Un-manly" or whatever.

I have had experiences where femdom stories I have written for the site got far more "That psycho B***ch!" or "Fag Cuck Shit- one star!" comments than "Wow, that's hot!" comments. Subsequently, I ended up removing most of those stories. Sadly, I think it's just a fact of how the demographic breaks down, and the traditional views of gender roles where people are uncomfortable about seeing those roles reversed.

Where can one find these femdom stories of yours?

^The only femdomme themed story I currently have left on the site is "The Captive of San Ramiro."

I had originally published about four or five female-domination stories, but I had all but one of them removed from the site, due to the low ratings and the controversy surrounding them. I started to feel ashamed and embarrassed by these stories; "Kink-shamed" if you will, and I decided that I wanted to focus on different themes in my stories. More "Vanilla" if you will, but also with more interesting story lines than just hook-ups.

But... that one remaining story has the word mistress in the title. You would think these vanilla m/f guys perusing the BDSM category would know what that word means.

Yes, but that story ("Your New Mistress") is really about an online dating scam; it's not really a BDSM story per se. Though it does involve an attempt to hook up with a potential domme the that one of the main characters met online.

That story was inspired by an experience I had on a website whose name rhymes with "Peg's Missed" (the story was rejected the first time because I listed the website's real name) and exchanged e-mails with a person who, it quickly became apparent, was not a native English speaker and whose clear objective was to scam people for money. Unlike the titular character, I was able to spot the scam but I guess the moral is, stay safe online and be wary of scammers. "Your New Mistress" is, quite honestly, not one of my better fictional works.

My only true remaining BDSM/femdomme themed story is titled "The Captive of San Ramiro." The rest are all varying themes of sci-fi, horror, suspense or just trippy/wierd tales, some with more sex (typically vanilla) than others.

I find it hard to believe Femdom stories do so badly in the ratings when I am constantly barraged with PMs anytime I comment or post. There are far more men out there interested in female dominance that those numbers show.

Let's talk.

I’ve never written a FemDom story So can’t really speak to the feedback but I can tell you there are a LOT of guys who like the idea of being dominated by a woman.

Women I hear less from but I don’t know whether that’s because they’re less interested in submitting to a woman or because this is the Internet :(
