I’m so old I remember…

I’ve got quite a few Beatles singles, but not that one.
I had more but I left them on a stacking turntable and the sun melted them! I wanted to cry 😭
I don’t normally collect singles except when I find the ones with picture jackets. Or ones my older relatives give me. I was taught years ago, don’t say no when someone offers you something or the next time they have something to give away, they won’t offer it to you.

Much of my vinyl was abandoned by my parents/brothers. And I believe they were given it by a guy who ran a pub with a jukebox. They are occasionally scratchy, but there’s everything from Del Shannon to Hendrix. As a teen I didn’t like Elvis …I used them as frisbees 🤷‍♂️. Or they’d be worth something now.

Del Shannon was born in a town in Michigan that I lived in prior to moving here. Every August there was a Del Shannon Days starting with old cars cruising into town, fun things to do, great food to eat, and a dance at the end. It was fun.

I'm so old I remember making actual mix tapes and feeding the audio outputs of my TV through my stereo to 'record' MTV unplugged episodes.

Yep I used to make mix tapes for the guys I dated.. that way I got to listen to my music in their cars.

Definitely. And there was something about the work and tile out into that, especially if you needed to swipe a song off the radio, that dragging files onto a playlist just doesn't match.

I feel so the same way, the actual making of the tape was the fun part. You couldn’t have every song you wanted. So you sit looking at your stereo and hope.

Then maybe you’d time it perfectly!

Now I make playlists of songs that make me think of particular people, and I name them after them. These are songs I chose they may not necessarily even like the songs.

And Harpo sits next to the children’s school desk from the ‘60’s (maybe). I found this desk in a collectible shop with clothes piled on top of it. The store employees weren’t aware the desk was underneath the clothes. Got it for $15. Woo Hoo

More like the late 40's desk. Desks in the 60's had flip tops

Thanks so much. Almost 4,000 sq. ft. and most people said I was crazy to buy it. Said “You don’t need that much space”. I don’t but I wanted it and I‘ve deprived myself of the small things to buy a few big things. My Dad has always stood up for me and he said, “You like it, buy it.”

Thanks, when I become an American Picker may I use you as a consultant? My Grandfather is preparing the box truck I bought for when I begin my next adventure.
