I feel pretty!

I hope she does too.

She is really a pleasure to watch...because she is comfortable in her own skin.

And her voice is amazing.

Although I honestly wonder how her voice wasn't discovered earlier. I'm not a singer or performer of any kind, so I admit that I don't know those ropes. But still...she has recorded before. How does the world miss that talent, I wonder?

I've seen Les Mis on Broadway more than once and I don't think I've heard a better performance of that song.

Then again, I'm thinking casting would consider her more of an Innkeeper's Wife than a Fantine.

No, you look the part.

Fantastic. At least now I know it's working.

ETA: The first time I saw the Susan Boyle performance on Yahoo the other day, it made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. I've been sending the link to everyone I know. Why, I wonder, does it strike chords within so many people?

It's the female version of slumdog millionaire if you substitute looks and access for money and access. AND it's a reality slumdog millionaire.

Makes sense. I still haven't seen that movie, and I really, really want to.

I actually had tears in my eyes...something about rooting for the ordinary woman...gets me to the bone.

I saw that. It was pretty awesome.

On another note, I'm a 48 year old woman and thank goodness not all 48 year old women look like a frump. Sure there have been days when I felt like I looked like that. Most days I feel better. Some days I feel . . .

*Sing it! You know you want to!*

you guess it!

Pretty!

:D

On another note...

I have been reading a bit this week about the Susan Boyle phenomenon.

Today, I read this interview with judge Piers Morgan and I really liked what he wrote:

In answer to the question: Would you be disappointed if next time Susan comes out to perform, she’s had a makeover?

He replied:

I wouldn’t be disappointed; it’s entirely up to Susan what she does. But I think what part of her charm is the way she looks. She doesn’t look like the average size-zero pop star. She’s a 48-year-old woman, she’s comfortable in her own skin, she’s never been kissed, and she’s a very special lady. I think part of her appeal and charm is the way she is, so I hope she doesn’t change too much. If she comes out with a new haircut, fine; if she comes out with Simon Cowell teeth, I’ve got a problem with it.

I think I'm in love with Piers Morgan.

I think she's probably one of those people who have always looked "like that" which is part of the appeal. It's not the 48ness alone.

I think you are right. I sure hope so. Ageism gets me down sometimes.

I got my eyebrows and lip waxed today! I feel A LOT better, they were driving me crazy.

I painted my nails my usual shade of black (instead of the grassy green I'd been experimenting with) - it made me feel so pretty.:D

My nails are black as well.

With a little white jolly roger on it, and one eye of the skull is a pink rhinestone.

Yarrrr cutie!

That sounds very cute. :cattail:

My nails aren't that long, so I can't have all the sparklies that go with long nails.

Good thing for me, I'd probably end up with them in my food...

I usually keep my nails quite long, since Mister thinks they're pretty like that, but I had the clip them off just past the tips of my fingers because one broke when I slammed it in the window.

I tried femme nails.

Anything that hinders my masturbation program that much has to go.

Ouch...that sounds very painful :(

I'm sure my Mister Man thinks longer nails are pretty (it must be a man thing!), but mine are very brittle and break easily. I tried false ones many many moons ago and just ended up shredding every pair of tights I owned.

Have you thought about silk wraps?

*looks around and panics* What are silk wraps?

Am I letting down the female population because I don't know?! lol

Oh, sweetie, I will HOOK YOU UP. Let me get some info together and I'll post it up here in a second with everything you need to know about silk wraps and etc.

In the meantime, lust after these Tokyo-style nails.

I'm hoping they're gonna catch on in the US. I am DYING to go to a salon and get my nails done like these!

Silk Nail Wraps

http://nailcare.ygoy.com/nail-wrappers/index.php

Nail wraps are pieces of different materials that are cut according to the shape of the nails and they are attached to the nail plate. They not only protect the nails from exposure to harmful elements, but also add strength and even length to the nails.

Silk wraps are one of the most common among the different types of wraps used for nails. Linen and fiberglass are the other two common materials popularly used as nail wraps.

Silk wraps are mostly used on natural nails; however, they are also used for strengthening the tips of the nails. Silk wraps are popular for imparting the most natural look to the nails, providing a lot of flexibility for carrying and maintaining the nails. However, they are very delicate and can be difficult to maintain for those who have an active and busy lifestyle.

Silk wraps are definitely one of the artificial solutions invented to protect your natural nails from breaking away and provide a natural look at the same time. Nail strengthening or nail lengthening is done by a variety of ways to protect and help the weak, short or damaged nails.

Some of those nails are very pretty, I'd probably choke myself by biting at them!! lol but I do like the classic blue manicured nails with the roses.

Hmm, definitely something I should look into if I want to strengthen my nails then.

However it does mention they can be hard to maintain if you have a busy, active lifestyle.

Thanks :)

When I have my nails done, I don't bite. When they aren't done, I chew them down to the bloody quick, and I'm not kidding. It's fucking disgusting. The worst habit I have.

I want these nails....so bad.

They're not as strong as acrylic or gel nails, natch.

However, they are stronger than bare nails with nothing on them.
