I Have A Serious Question...

Oh and why do I come here, SC? The entertainment value and absolute ignorance of a lot of the posters here reminds me of the proverbial car wreck...you just have to look.

Look but not post maybe, otherwise you become the car wreck.

I just got my ass kicked in that debate.

Nicely argued, Risia.
Wow. Nobody's ever conceded to me before! Honestly, I'm not out to "win" anything--I'm just an opinionated broad who likes to argue. The reason I posted such a long response is because what you were saying makes complete sense to me, I just have different priorities.

It's fun to have an intelligent conversation. So, thanks to those of you who actually make an argument and kept a civil tongue. You know who you are.

The internet is not a place you should let your children surf at random. It is the parents responsiblity to watch them. Let alone the so called "danger" of naked boobies:eek:  , there are trolls out there not unlike yourself Kid, just looking for kids. Keep them safe, easy, be involved in what they are seeing, and surfing.

Unforntuanatly my weekends or weekdays do not revolve around sitting on a porn board allday talking about your best blowjob ever or your pre-sex ritual...

I think what you people need to realize is that I simply raised a concern that I have about under-aged kids viewing or posting on this website and instead of an intelligent debate most of you decided to go on the defensive and used stupid flaming tactics to make me out to be the bad guy here which shows to me and any other casual dropper by that this board is full of people who are not capable of addressing an issue without being open to another persons views who differ from yours without acting like a baby who's candy was taken away...

Actually, I'm not capable of reading and interpreting run-on sentences that make no sense...

To those who believe parents aren't responsible...are you a parent? I am. I monitor what my daughters watch, listen to and what they do on the internet. I took that responsibility on when the pregnancy test said yes.

Sexy-Thang you're right when you say that some of the blocking programs are easily manipulated, but I never give anyone or anything complete responsibility for my children. The school needs my permission for things such as field trips, or even medical treatment. The babysitter doesn't show movies w/out getting the parents okay. So if my 7 year old is on the 'net, even with a blocking program, I am always aware of what she is doing.

That is my duty as a parent.

I'm positive that at some point she will stumble across some web page I don't approve of, and at the time I can address the subject w/ her and tell her why I (yes "I", no moral majority, just my own set of morals) find the material inappropriate. I don't want anyone telling me how to raise my kids, and what is appropriate for my kids to see.

Absofuckinglutely hilarious to be lectured about the freedom of speech from a bitch that so regularly and completely abuses it.

What Point What You Trying To Make...

Its one thing to just make a comment but can you back it up...

Allow Me To Simplify This Issue...

You can't buy a Penthouse magazine without an ID...Ya can't get into an R rated movie in a theater without an ID, and ya can't walk into an adult bookstore without proper ID cuz all these businesses are going out of their way to keep underage kids from viewing porn and yet the internet is un-policed and its the parents responsibilty to keep their kids from viewing such material that other industries have required proof of age for years and years to view...

~i~

And you can buy the fake ID on the nearest corner of any street in any town.

So much for that theory. I had a fake ID when I was 15 even though I also had a legal ID that allowed me to drive. Since I was not a drinker, nor did I care to get into to R-rated movies or buy Penthouse, why did I have it?

Because I could and it cost me $20.

Ummmm...

How does that blow my theory...

Fake ID's are alot more difficult to come by these days do to special features that are encrypted into a drivers liscense that are hard to reproduce much like currency in the US is...

Think before ya post...

I have been reading all this, why bother guys he knows it all anyhow.

Now that is funny!!!!! I just love that you tell me to think before I post.

Yeah Kid forgot that all 7-11's have equipment to check the encryption of an ID and that all movie theaters with the teen-agers working the ticket window know how to spot a fake ID and I really didn't even think about how the guy at the local beer store out to make a buck would really not just take the "ID" as being real and sell the beer anyway. After all, he didn't use his encryption machine, which of course would be his lawyers case in court.

Excuse Me...

If I knew it all as you have just posted then I wouldn't be asking the question in the first place...

I believe i've stated my case without flaming anyone on this board and have backed up my arguments with legit opinions which is something I can't say for about 80% of you people who have just jumped on this thread with inane replies that have nothing to do with the topic posted...

No Equiptment Neccessary To Determine A Fake ID...

For instance a Texas ID has the word "Texas" hidden in the background and all ya have to do is hold it up to the light and you can see the word on the ID...

Fake ID's are amazingly easy to make. I work for a major department store in the DFW Metroplex & the amount of check fraud due to fake ID's is appalling. You can ask any large retail business & they will tell you that fake ID's are all over. My fiancee works in a print shop & we made a fake ID that was nearly perfect. We tested it in other stores that are run by the company I work for & not one person questioned it. The Asset Protection people knew what we were doing in advance & it was shocking to see how easy it was to fool people. The internet is a little bit different than a 7-11 or a movie theater & much harder to police. The majority of young people accessing the internet are on line at home. There is no excuse for parents to turn their kids loose anywhere with no supervision. As a parent, I know my son was checking out porn sites when he was 15 & 16. He never got into anything serious & when I checked the history, it was all there. We discussed it & moved on. When my niece visits, she is never allowed on the net unless I am in the room with her. I have the computer set up in the living room, so that I can monitor her activity. I do not give credit card numbers out to anyone & use them rarely. My son started receiving pre-approved credit card applications when he was 15 years old & working part time for the school district. Credit card companies are extremely lenient at times & it is amazing to me how many young people have credit cards.

OVER REGULATION BREEDS IRRESPOSIBILITY! Yes I'm shouting.... Over regulation from board and government agencies, removes the necessity of parents to monitor the situations in which their children may become involved.

Further more, have regulated a situation, the parents of a child who then becomes so involved, may subsequently sue. Another reason our government is become unwieldy and heavily laden with bureaucracy.

If we remove the NEED for parents to monitor their children’s activities.... just what are parents doing? And when will they check back in?

Do you really want the government to tell you how to raise your kids? I don't!

I refused to me regulated by a minority who cannot monitor their OWN children.

Parent Point of View

Since I'm a parent of 3 boys...I would think it easier to hold websites responsible for what my children view...LoL but since I'm not a total idiot and I love my children and care how they are brought up I hold myself responsible...parents are the ones that should be watching what their children do...you can't keep an eye on them 24/7 but if they are in your home on your computer you can certainly watch them...our computer is in our livingroom...where there is always an adult (mostly me) that can supervise...and if they do happen to get on a sex picture site I agree that it's much better for my children to see the naked human body than ppl killing each other...although some of the sex sites on the net aren't much better...there's some pretty "sick" stuff out there on the net...that's why parents have to be on their toes and watch out for their kids.

I agree with kidrock, there's too much out there for parents to have to try to monitor themselves. So, what's wrong with the sites helping out a little?

Here we go again!

Install the filtering software. Place the computer in a public part of the house, and instruct your kids on what you expect.

If they want to see it that badly - your not going to stop it from banning them from the net!

I saw some of the most hardcore (gross) stuff i've ever seen as a 13yr old in class when some of the other lads had got mags off their older brothers. Do your bit and if you've instilled the right example not the old "do as i say not as i do" scenario with them there shouldnt be a problem!

And like others have already said - what is wrong with the naked body anyway?

I have two boys of my own (13 and 8) and a 17 year old stepson who lives with us too. I monitor what my younger children get up to on the net and have had many indepth chats with them about chat sites and unsuitable material for them that they are not too access.
Of course if they want to look for porn, they will but I wander in and out, checking up on them and reminding them that using the computer is a privilege. Not following our rules about the computers use means no computer for a set time.

There is nothing wrong with the naked body, the things that I consider inappropriate for my children to see on the net are things most people don't want to see let alone young children with impressionable minds. (Beastiality, hordcore porn etc)

IMHO. What a childs mind is fed can determine what they think is normal.

don't know what planet you live on.....fake ID's are a dime a dozen......think BEFORE you post.......anybody and everybody can get thier hands on them........now if you said some are better than others i would agree......

and using credit cards to prove age to enter porn sites, anybody can bypass those as well.....i know a 17 year old kid who could give you enough credit card numbers to bypass, security on porn sites it would make your head spin........kids these days are computer savy...they know all the tricks.....look you got on here didn't ya???

First I wish I'd seen this a long time ago.

Second if a parent does a really good job of raising their kids well they aren't going to need to spend all their time monitering thier kids. No this isn't comming from a niave parent, it is actually comming from a kid (well an all grown up but well raised kid). My parents did a good job raising me by the time I was in high school they didn't monitor me or give me curfews or anysuch because they trusted me. This is also a norm in many other countries where when children are raised well, where parents are given ample time to raise thier children well, by the time they are teens their parents treat them like adults because they are responsible enough to handle it.

Third, I'd rather have my children or any other children look at a real woman than play with barbie. (I must grant that I haven't looked at the pictures posted just seen some that end up on the boards. Most just make me roll my eyes.) At least they are realistic and the young people won't end up with unrealistic just plain bad rolemodels.

But of course that's just me and I have my right to speaks as do all the stupid idiots in the world...that doesn't mean I have to agree.
