Quick drive-by blurt: We almost have a new house. It even has a small hidden room behind a bookcase!!! (Sadly, I suspect it will be storage at first, but a girl can dream.) We close in Feb 9. We are packing and freaking out, not always at the same time. Mortgage will be higher, but we plan to rent out current house which will, in turn, lower the second mortgage by a third. Assuming someone nice rents very quickly (smudging and sending prayers).

The new house is A-Maz-ING!!! Seriously, the way it's staged is like they sucked out our brains (mostly Master's) and built/decorated a house for us. (I freak a tiny bit because the staging is so awesome that it's difficult to picture a truly blank canvas.) We've had the home inspection--seller is fixing all of what we asked for. This is so seamless it makes ME nervous! Appraisal pending, and that might be a glitch, because Zillow thinks is should be significantly cheaper that settled price. Please hold breath for us?

The layout is perfect, the setting is gorgeous. Like nose-to-rock of our favorite mountains (we're currently 17 miles farther away and more to the south). I twitch because I know my Mom would have loved to paint here. I plan to set up a tripod and shoot daily pix just because--Blog pending. It will likely be only the two of us because DD1 is thoroughly settled in the Windy City and DD2 doesn't want to be with us (mixed feelings on my part about the circumstances). Master will have his den, I will have my craft room AND fiery fun zone in the (very large) garage, and we intend to change up our current "live in the bedroom" lifestyle because the master bedroom is smallish (but OMG, it has a snail shower AND jetted tub).

It is staged magnificently, but I think we have our own furnishings to rival the existing ones. I'm in a panic about packing yet the closing date can't been soon enough. The only drawback is the landscaping...it's all gravel around the house, plus a weird 50x100 foot "back piece" to the west that we think could/should be raised garden beds. We are kicking around solar and wind options for energy. I'm wondering about plumbing into the garage for a dyer's heaven "wet lab."

But, it all boils down to good thoughts for the closing. So far we're good to go. Please think nice things our way? After all of the upheaval of the past few years, I think we are due to get some good stuff coming our way.

Woke up at a crazy early hour. Couldn't get back to sleep for hours....Just in time for my alarm clock to piss me off.

Have a great day!

on new anti-depressants (again). 'Tis the season after all... but it's been 10 years or so since I've taken anti-depressants

Last month's attempt (the actual first in a decade) were pretty good... until I couldn't sleep. Pretty sure they kept me too active & antsy for posting as well. Sure couldn't settle down for reading on that stuff, but I got lots done around the house, in a time of year that I am most acutely aware of any housework left unfinished, so that was nice.

These ones suck already; drowsy & hungry all the time, which makes me pretty grumpy all the time. Less impairing than sleep interruptions though, so I'm sticking with it for now until I can regroup with the doc. Sometimes side effects are worse for the first week or so, & others don't so much get better as you get better in coping with them. Actually taking naps has helped a bit.

Being hungry all the time without actually enjoying the food i'm shoveling is nothing new... but before that was a symptom that made me consider meds, not a side effect of them.

managing to read a bit more than post on this stuff. Missin you guys. My thoughts are with you, if only fleetingly lately.

Good to see you back, Staggy :) Was missing you as well.

I hope you find the right combination. Fleeting thoughts are good! Nice to see you.

I didn't wear gloves when I peeled the black salsify. Why? WHY? I don't think my hands will ever be unsticky again.

I just had my first encounter with cat food that's not kibble.

That stuff is gross! The kibble smells bad enough, but that stuff is just vile. The cat didn't appreciate it either and didn't eat it. She has good taste.

:sigh: A real estate site sending me home decor advice for the new trends. Why would I spend money on a trend? There's no way I want to spend money on decor only to have it look "dated" in a couple of years. I'll stick to my own style and invest way less money for something that always looks good and feels comfortable.

In all the years I've known him, hubby has insisted on wearing very plain clothes in mainly black, with occasional forays into white or blue shirts/t-shirts during summer. He has always refused to wear anything with any detailing or pattern.

Yesterday we went clothes shopping together and he bought two suits - one is a blue patterned tweed and the other is a brown dogtooth check. Plus two pairs of shoes, one black and one brown. And two ties - a blue paisley one and a brown striped one.

He's either having a mid-life crisis or an affair  :D

When we were out for brunch today, the waiter brought food to the married couple (both wore rings) on the next table.

"Vegan breakfast?"
"That's me" smiled the wife.
"So this must be yours, sir - full English with extra bacon, extra sausage, and extra black pudding."

 :D

#relationshipgoals !!!!

How's his taste in two-seater sports cars? I would say that if he yearns for a late 60s MGB AND wants it painted in a brown dogtooth check you should start worrying. Otherwise, maybe not so much. :D
