In all the years I've known him, hubby has insisted on wearing very plain clothes in mainly black, with occasional forays into white or blue shirts/t-shirts during summer. He has always refused to wear anything with any detailing or pattern.

Yesterday we went clothes shopping together and he bought two suits - one is a blue patterned tweed and the other is a brown dogtooth check. Plus two pairs of shoes, one black and one brown. And two ties - a blue paisley one and a brown striped one.

He's either having a mid-life crisis or an affair  :D

How's his taste in two-seater sports cars? I would say that if he yearns for a late 60s MGB AND wants it painted in a brown dogtooth check you should start worrying. Otherwise, maybe not so much. :D

You only worry when the pet nicknames stop.

I'm referring to me. I am the pet.
Was.
See?

Actually I just made this up but it seems like something that wise old owl Anonymous would have said.

I tried to feed cat food to the cat again today, different stuff than the previous time.

She sniffed the food, then RAN to the bathroom, far away from her feeding bowl. She still hasn't emerged and when I last checked, she was licking the shower curtain.

She really seems to hate cat food.

((((Hug))))

I agree :)

Hubby says it's because he's finally losing his marbles and that it's my fault. Apparently he has said for years that I would drive any man round the twist :D I'm quite proud of myself, really....

I joined a protest against Trump and it was great. I met stellar people and I could tell that the thousands of us finally didn't feel so fucking alone - and a tiny bit less like we'd all been kicked in the collective nuts. I am pretty reserved and generally not a protesting sort of person, but I am doing this again and again for as long as this fucking psychopath still befouls our civic cathedral and spews his vile bullshit.

Then what do you feed your cat?

I'm not a space nut, but in not very widely publicized news, former US astronaut Gene Cernan died today. He was 82.

Cernan was the very last human being to walk on the moon. That happened 45 years ago. Since then we've pretty much shut down NASA and space exploration beyond the orbital space station. Big plans to send robots to Mars but nothing about sending people to the moon again.

I wonder how people today feel about restarting a manned space exploration program? There seems to be so much to learn out there.

It really needs to be done. A lot of extraterrestrial research can be done with refined radio telescopes but exploration isn't the only benefit to pushing technological boundaries, the first space race resulted in a generation of technological progress in a single decade which enhanced everything from food produced to mathematical progress to the development of wifi.
I would guess that trillion/s of dollars were collectively spent by various nations just trying to one-up each other on space-faring technology but I'd argue that the technological pay-off was more than worth it.

Summary: A new space race would make things better down here. Should probably get on with it rather than use NASA as the military piggy bank for when they need some more funding for magic invisible cheese grater stealth planes.

Mostly meat, chicken. Chicken liver. Salmon. Occasionally yogurt and. On special days tuna. Cat vitamins.

And cat kibble, which also doesn't smell great, but it's so much less unpleasant than the wet food. *shudder*

She's never had cat food before now, but we got 6 individual meal packages for free, so we decided to give it a try. Ok, she probably has eaten cat food when she was a kitten, before J got her.

So far she hasn't eaten anything we've given her and she has and woken us up on two nights meowing for food in front of the fridge. She did at least taste the food I gave her last night, which was some salmon thing, so it was definitely more of a success than the previous two.

I see. Yeah, I don't feed my kitties wet food either. As far as I know it's not that healthy for them, not to mention the BPA can lining here. They do get one small can split 3 ways one a week as a treat. They all love it, I tend to gag the entire time I'm dealing with it

I don't know if it's healthy for the cat or not, really. I've never had to ponder these things, because so far the cat has eaten the same chicken or salmon we cook with for ourselves.

Ours were bags, not cans. We got them from the pet store we usually go to. It's closing, so they're selling or giving away everything. I gave the rest of the bags to a friend with a cat, because ours won't eat it. It really does smell ghastly.

What do you feed your cats?

Dry kitty food and daily treats.
Two of my kitties won't touch any kind of meat, raw or cooked. The other one would eat it until she exploded if you let her

I get the dry kitty food recommended by my vet. One of my cats will eat nothing but that, not even the occasional treat. The other eats anything and everything. I have to be very careful to keep food out of reach after the Christmas Wensleydale debacle.

Was it Wensleydale with festive cranberries?
