the morning begins with a huge stretch with strains and yawns. Bless the kitchen staff for that early coffee. Looking out, I see low fog and a fine mist.

I was briefly aware of someone letting me know Rumin had arrived and was awaiting my attendance in the outer sanctum of my offices. I waved them off with a murmured, “Not right now, have him wait”, and continued with what I was doing.
As usual, my work and the conflicts of my people overtook my concentration again. Holding my finger on the line was reading about a detailed complaint, I reached over for my glass of mulled wine. With my attention not so focused, I became aware of the humming just as light flared to my left. I looked up to see Sonorya lighting the flares around me. Shadows danced across my walls, and sunset faded beyond my window.
I really hated to chastise her yet again, but visiting nobility tends not to be as tolerant as I am wont to be.
“Sonoyra”, my tone was harsh as I addressed her.
Apparently realizing I had addressed her, and knowing she was in trouble, she wobbled briefly on her foot stool before quickly stepping down.
Dropping instantly into a curtsey, she bowed her head and waited.
She looks so miserable, I thought, but thoughts such as these will get me nowhere with her.
“Yes, m’lady?” her voice trembled slightly as she spoke.

“How many times have we gone over that annoying noise you make while you are in others’ company?”

Dipping a quick curtsey as I turned to walk away, she was noticeably relieved to no longer be the focus of my displeasure.
I gather my thoughts, as I leave the room. The hallway is chilly as I leave the warmth of my rooms. I walk the corridors, passing chambers, lost in thought. Obviously something must be done about the new craftsman. I smile derisively as I realize I haven't officially met the man, and he is already working within my Palace. That won’t keep me from administering punishment.
Lost in thought, thinking up and discarding possible punishments, I wander towards the dungeon.
I hear shouting, and it appears to be coming from the staircase leading down to the dungeon. It gets louder as I make the descent, and the chill gets worse. I hear foot steps echo softly behind me, but I really want to know what’s going on in my dungeon.
I notice that the usual guards aren’t at the doorway- in fact, no one is at the door way.
I know that if I go in, whatever is happening will stop, so I listen at the door. A masculine voice is clearly upset. It wasn’t a voice I recognized. He was being very vocal about the lack of direction with the workers. There was also some thing mentioned about the quality of the materials being used.
From the direction of the ass-reaming, I assumed the voice belonged to my new Master Craftsman. I didn’t want to intrude, as he was going to have to be in charge of this work. I needed to show him the error of his ways, but I didn’t have to take away his authority to do this.
