basketball game?

I watched part of the second half, Thinks Tubby chewed some butt at half time and adjusted some attitudes. They played about as hard as they had to ? Liberty wasn't as much of a challenge as Georgetown or Lipscomb were? Must have been another coaching buddy of Tubby's that Tubby wanted to get a nice check to. ?
I would rather see us play some tougher opponents . Even the loss to Iowa, made us pick up our play or WV would have creamed us. I don't know that I agree with these cupcakes in the preseason. I don't think we gain much from playing them. Yeah, I know, Indiana and Louisville are coming soon, lol. so are several good teams in the SEC just waiting to kick our butts when they get us to their place. We will take some whacks when we go on the road this year.
I really am not so sure we deserve the top 10 rating. Probably more like a top 20 maybe???
Guess we will wait and see what Ole Tubby can bring out of them.

Well the game wasn't on live here for me...so I listened to it..Just can't get into the games on the radio..

Yes Tubby apparently chewed the paint at halftime..They need to come out and play hard from the get go.....We don't need a loss to bring out the "wildcat" in us to play...The West Virginia was a good game...We should play like this all the time.....And Sparks needs to play like he did in the Wva game all the time....

I don't like all the cup cake teams either....But all the teams do it..I wish that the cupcake teams were not as cup cakish as they are...

I hadn't heard that he was reinstated? I certainly hope he comes back with a positive, team oriented attitude. Otherwise , we don't need him.
I have the digital cable package on one TV . If you have digital tv abailable through your cable company, " it cost $10.00 a month " you can get a lot of basketball that isn't on regular cable. I saw the WV game on ESPNU and last night was on channel 73, both of which come with the digitial package along with Speed Channel. That is Insight, which is here in the Louisville market.

Yes it is being reported on my UK message board this morning..I too hope that he comes back with a good attitude and wants to get in there and play because we sure do need him! I want him to be part of the team and play team ball....He definitely needs to come back with a positive attitude!!

I have cable and was lucky that they gave us ESPNU week before last so I have not missed that many games..I just miss the ones on FSN..I have FSN but it is not the one they show the games on....

I do agree with you on the SEC road games this year..I do dread them more then usual..I want us to beat Tennessee worse then anything because their coach is talking about creaming us this year..

North Carolina lost nearly everyone to draft - Seniors and highly touted sophmores. The UNC game better be a big WIN for us - I hope they don't take that team lightly.
The real power in the Carolina's is Duke - they have nearly everyone back!

Yes UNC lost 7 players...So we just need to make sure we can match up against them and hope to have a great game...

What about HS Football - any comments there?

Since sports seem to be a topic here - I thought I would throw this in.

To the best of my knowledge - this next week is going to be the last time we have REAL State Champs in Kentucky for football.
If you didn't pay attention to the newspaper - the rest of the state can't compete with the Louisville schools (Trinity, St X, Male) so they decided that they would change the rules and let Public schools have their own champion.

(Remember, 10 years ago - they got tired of Jefferson County always having a team - automatically - in the 4 A championship. So they decided that Jefferson County teams would play the state teams - and come from two divisions, thus it could happen that a Jefferson County team might not be in the state finals.)

But this backfired on them. Trinity, Male and St X have OWNED the 4 A state football titles the last 9 of the last 10 years. Many of those years it was two Jefferson County teams playing one another. Guess what?

We're BACK ---- Trinity is playing St X for the championship.

I just hope that in two years, when there is a "state school" who gets to win the public side of the state - they get a chance to play Trinity during the regular season. I just hope that Trinity doesn't let up - and we beat that team 75 - 0 like they deserve. They can chant that they are public school champs all they want. <evil Grin>

Hates to see the public vs private controversy. However, the St X vs John Hardin game, was a great game. Isn't John Hardin a public school? I think Lex Cath was the primary target of the public vs private debate.

St X won 48 - 16 earlier this year - the State Finals will be next Saturday with both teams playing each other again.

There don't seem to be many of us.

This is my first post so if I do something wrong, forgive me. I am a transplanted Californian living in Ky for about 20 yrs. Big Blue basketball IS great but there are many really fine programs out there with just as much history. I grew up watching John Wooden and his UCLA teams that included Lew Alcindor et al. It's hard to do any better than his dynasty. Enough about bball. Where are all the Ky people on this site? There has to be more than a dozen of us.

I clearly remember those UCLA teams. They were awesome. The best teams money could buy, lol. He , Wooden, was a legend in INdiana, as a high school player and college player at Purdue. He coached at Indiana State in Terre Haute before he was hired at UCLA. He had several years at UCLA before he started winning big time.

Since I brought the subject of HS sports up - (several posts ago) and mentioned that Trinity would again be playing St X --

REVENGE IS SO SWEET --

We added our 16th football title last night. (the 4th title in 5 years and 5th time in the state finals in 6 years)

Congratulations ROCKS!

Now - on to UK Basketgall - Beat UNC!

Now our Cats took one on the chin at home??? That surprised me. I was out of town and didn't get to see or listen to it. I do know this, Those two big galutes we call centers are wasted scholarships. Carter may make something by the time he is a junior, maybe? The other two are just two big stiffs. We do not have an inside scoring threat, and there by are taking way too many shots from the outside to beat the good teams. Carolina is a better team than most thought they would be, even if they did lose their top seven scorers.

Spicey I wasn't around either to watch the game and from what everyone told me we sucked..Those were the first two words out of their mouths...From 3 people I know of...You are right about Shag and Woo..Their asses both need to be gone...Carter I think he will be a factor if not late in the year then by next year..yeah I am optimistic about him...I don't know of Roy outcoached Tubby or not..If we play like this against Louisville then Iam going to go into HIDING!
