Well...I have 3 published books and I'm in many other places that you would never expect to see me but I cannot possibly divulge any of that! So I can only "admit" to my 2 Literotica stories and more will come BUT...it takes time because I actually write every, single day...as part of what I do for a living so it's about getting time for THIS writing. I'm popping in here as a "break" from my other writing I'm doing professionally. Writing as a break from writing...how derivative!

And I have no writing tricks or tips except to say that writing is a skill like any other and to really get better you must PRACTICE...the practice effect is maybe THE most robust effect in human behavior and not just practice but GUIDED practice, as in you cannot just write what you enjoy no more than practicing an instrument (and I play 5) is about playing the songs you dig. I've played (music) over 50 years and I still play the scales, arpeggios, and the stuff that pisses me off because I'm just not GOOD at it...until I am.

So...directed writing. Here's what I do...have you ever had a thought that was worth pondering? I know, vague at best but one thing I used to do (because one area I am published and write a lot in is non-fiction humor) is I would see something and think of something humorous about it...and that was it. Now? I don't allow that. If I think of something, boom, I stop what I'm doing, hit the keyboard (the QWERTY variety, vs the 88 key variety) and write!

I do have one, very short, um..."humorous" thing I wrote but I dare not expose anyone to it because it is SO OFFENSIVE that I dare not...it was actually a topic given to me and it's very "racially insensitive" but not really...my good friend OF the race involved thought it was hilarious...but people these days cannot see past certain things. And honestly if you read it yeah, it's pretty racist IF you fail to grasp the very obvious joke, which is so obvious!

There is something comforting in the notion that as long as you're practising, you're also improving. Even if you're pulling your hair out over plot and prose you don't like - which is a bloody large portion of the writing process - you are still improving, and that is marvellous.

Writing here probably helps me with my novels too. It's a respite from arduous work. It's freeing. It's fun. And it's still writing, so it's still practice.

We shouldn't feel bad about writing as a break from writing

The 750 word challenge is a great exercise - a story in exactly 750 words - we have young writers trying to hit every category with a 750 word story. Those kids are going to go far.

I'm a fairly new author on here, and have had a couple of short stories published. However, I did write a 230-page erotic novel, called 'The Elevation of Sarah Stevens' on KDP. Naturally, it's lost among the thousands of others in the genre. If you've read my stories on here, the style is similar, though given the length of the story, the character development is in much greater detail, and spans the length of the novel.

While I much enjoy many of the stories published here, many seem to go from 0-60 in two paragraphs flat. My stories usually centre around a young female who is passionate and easily aroused but her libido is inhibited by external factors which are gradually worn away. This takes time and development.

Your story poses some fundamental questions, that I too pondered over, as an accidental Centaur in a modern world.
As my female lead Izzy asks her teacher wether a Centaur could be a boyfriend. To which he applies the, "Harkness," test of consent. He also remarks that her theoretical Centaur would be classified as an illegal, and would throw up a test case of sentient human or animal.
