Just noticed something. The "Show online status" is in 2 places now. One in the Privacy section and one in the Preferences section. I wonder if that's why people are having problems with that.

If you change it in one place the other changes automatically as long as you hit Save.

I have been doing indexes for years now. Even wrote HOW TO.
Now its not going to work. When to update got this

Okay, so now my new AV is showing up on my profile page (hours after I uploaded it) but my old AV is still showing up on my posts and on the blue bar on top of the page. And when you hover over my AV.

Subscriptions are now Watched Threads. Go to forums - watched threads. News feed isn’t for threads you follow, but for people you follow

I haven't been able to access my Control Panel for a few months. When I try, it gets stuck on the first step and just cycles over and over at that point. So I can't see my favorites, my saved stories to read later, edit the authors that I'm following, or see their new stories.

When I saw this update, I hoped that the problem was fixed, but its still the same. I've noticed a few other people post the same issues. Is there any idea as to why we're having the trouble, or if it can be fixed?

I'm sad that all my PMs are gone. The only thing I have after clicking the envelope is some random guy wanting a convo..

I had some special messages saved from various ones including a few that were taken out and brushed off every so often. Dammit.

Do you have a “show all” underneath the PM that you can see? When I click on the envelope, I see messages from today, and then when I click on “show all,” I can see all of my old PMs.

Uh, oh.. now it's back to showing my old AV on my profile page.

I can't change the AV either. Meaning, when I want to upload the new it will automatically upload and show the old. So, I just delete it until it's fixed.

How do I permanently delete account?

I've never found that feature even with the old format. They say you should make a request to the mod. I find that rather stupid. One should be able to delete their account.

Plus changing the buddy list to following and showing who you follow or who follows you to others here is inconsiderate and subject to creating discomfort.

You can control that from your account settings. Go to privacy->Allow users to: View your details on your profile page:
You have 4 options:
1. All visitors
2. Members only
3. People you follow
4. Nobody

Same thing goes for: Receive your news feed & View your identities. Although, I'm not quite sure what View your "identities" is for.

On a site like this, privacy is extremely important, and I see at least two ways our privacy has been compromised.

1. Why are "Followers" visible to all under our profile? I wasn't even aware of this feature in the old version, but apparently others were. It seems to me that showing who is following you or who you are following indicates who you likely have been in communication with, which should not be anyone else's business. This could cause embarrassment. It is blindingly obvious that it should be possible to choose whether this is displayed or not, but it apparently it isn't.

2. Also potentially embarrassing is that our activity can be seen by all. Considering all the bizarre stuff on this site, isn't it obvious that we might not want some people we communicate with to know what other weird interests we may have? What I choose to view should not be displayed to the world. I honestly can't believe that no one thought of this. UPDATE: Apparently it is possible to turn this off in Privacy, so that's good.

Also, really dumb is that it is now a major project to see who is online. Rather than the old block of usernames, we have a truncated one. If that isn't complete, why have it at all? Instead we have to scan through several pages of users listed in random orders. Have of this lower section of the page is a total waste of space--the two sections to the right. I suggest getting rid of those, making New Posts a new page with a link to it elsewhere, and using the entire lower section to show the complete list of who is online, as it used to be.

And it also seems to me, that one of thing that should have been of paramount importance in this project was preserving people's passwords. Yet, even though I was most definitely using my correct password, I was told that it was invalid, so I had to reset it. That required my email address, but many people who created Lit accounts many years ago may no longer remember their 10- or 15-year-old email address or password and will therefore be locked out of their accounts permanently.

As I said in a previous post, the ONLY thing that actually needed fixing was the ability to create or edit profiles, which was broken for several years. I still do not see any way to do that.

All our subscribed threads are gone??? That's really dumb too.

So if anyone cares to reply, I'd appreciate help with:

making followers and following invisible
creating or editing my profile
knowing if our subscribed threads are lost forever

There's a weird timing issue where I get a server error, or have to reload the page to post.

Same here. And it happens also with PMs.

i wish we could turn off individual avs. as for images popping up, that's something i have to be aware of...not the most appropriate if H's mum is sitting in the same room as us as we're scrolling through threads

Until they find a way to do that, I put them on ignore list.
Nothing against them as people. I don't even know them. But cockatar, also vaginatar for that matter, goes straight into my ignore list.

The profile editing issue is finally (re)solved for me. The only issue that persistently remains is, like many other users before have posted, is the avatar change / loop. When uploading a picture, it reverts and displays an older avatar I already had changed yesterday. In the meantime, I will have it disabled until there is some progress in that regard.

Although, I'm not quite sure what View your "identities" is for.

It might be a disabled feature, since those identity fields do not show up.

If you didn't notice it, click the "Show All" link at the bottom of the little window that pops up when you click the envelope. That's where I found all of my archived PMs, and nothing appears to be missing.

Are there any guidelines on image size changes? I noticed some very large ones on other posts so decided to try uploading some without resizing them. They all failed, so there must be a new max size. The 100kb, 800x600 max size always was a pain, having to size down and drop resolution to fit, so I am hoping something substantial. Not that I am posting anything terribly interesting until the share button issue gets sorted out.

It means the photo that you are using as an avatar is in violation of the site’s photo guidelines. Also no one wants to see a cockatar.

Put a person on iggy because you don't like cockatars or their attitude, BOOM they're gone.

I wonder if that fixes it to where the person I have on iggy won't see MY posts, either. That's something that always needed fixing.

I don't think there will ever be a way to hide your posts to certain members and personally, I don't think there should.
the Ignore function is a way to alter your experience of the forum, your "reality". If that made your posts invisible to them, you would be altering their experience, their reality.

With the way it works now, you will not be able to see that they post after you and you don't have to see what they post even if they are quoted.

Now I just wish I could ignore certain posts without having to ignore the OP.
