It literally says in the rules of the site that you cannot have such a photo as your avatar. I’m sorry that you don’t understand what rules are, but I’m also grossed out that you don’t understand that the cockatar is almost universally a turn off. Gross.

Without going through all this content, is anyone else having trouble posting pictures from other sites? I seem only able to post imgur content.

The update might only be one side of it. On 16 February 2022, bdsmlr posted a notice that they are banning image hotlinking to reduce the load on their servers. They are blocking bdsmlr accounts that violate the policy. Apparently, hotlinking is when you copy a link to an image that is hosted on another site and use it to imbed the image on your site or a site that you are using. The issue seems to be that you are getting to use that image without having to store the image on your website's server. You are using the original site's server to provide content to your site. From what I have read, it's not an illegal practice in the US or UK, but the sites that host the original images don't appreciate the extra load on their servers from users on other websites. I suppose that there could be incentives for the UI developers to create software that doesn't allow hotlinking from sites that are banning it. But, I know very little about software development and didn't even know what hotlinking was until about 30 minutes ago. I think that posting the link itself is fine, because it redirects to the hosting website. It's just the imbedding that's an issue. It is a disappointing development.

Question: in the old site there was a CP section with option to see all attachments I did in the past. Was called “Attachments”. Is this capability in this new version? Thank you.

That's still an issue that hasn't been addressed. It's on the punch list above somewhere .... ability to see, delete and re-use previously uploaded attachments.


It's available because I have it on at least one other XF board I use, directly under 'Reactions ..."

I think maybe someone's feelings of entitlement and self privilege were offended. And, the guys who post their wangs in their AV's don't like being made to feel inferior. I wonder how many of those guys know that a lot of liters put them on ignore just because of their AV?

I may have missed it in my searching, but can you still turn PM’s on and off as we could in the old set up. If there isn’t an option for this, I assume PM’s are turned on by default.

I’m more curious, than wanting to turn them off.

Under privacy in your account details, at the bottom, there’s an option to choose who you want to be able to start conversations with you. One of the options is nobody.

Thanks, I saw that earlier but never registered it was PM’s I noticed though that the default was everyone including visitors. I had reduced that to members only.

so the bottom line is that they are on by default.

Yes, all of the settings in that section are on by default which is not good

I just found this. Not being able to turn them off was a complete deal breaker for me. I’m so relieved.

Apparently, you can also limit who can see your profile. nikki2688, I can't view your profile. Is it something I ate ; ) ?

That was always disabled in this Tech Support forum for some reason that I never understood.

You should see an Edit button/link in all other forum sections.

Okay, so I logged out of Lit and went to https://forum.literotica.com/. From there I was able to access all the boards and threads without logging in. That means anyone can read your posts without having an account here. They may not be able to see your profile, but they can definitely see the things you post. Me personally, that's a big issue for me. I don't think it was like that on the old forum. I think you had to be a member and logged in to access the boards and read the threads.

I also noticed that in the Show your Face thread, many of the pics there had share buttons which means anyone.. even those who are not logged in can share your pics on facebook, twitter and some other social media platforms. I also have an issue with this.

For a site that forbids Litsers from even taking about underage sexual topics in passing, it seems hypocritical to me that they would make it so easy for ANYONE... regardless of age to have easy access to this forum.

I never considered this part of Lit to be a porn site, but the fact is... IT IS A PORN SITE... and Lit should never allow itself to be associated or connected in any way to social media platforms that are being used by children and people who oppose sites like this one. That is just... so WRONG!

You could always access these boards without being a member or logging in. This is nothing new. Only commenting required logging in.

Regarding underage viewing, they can also read stories. The porn video sites are the same. Age verification is a real issue, because how do you do it? Some sites ask: "Are you 18?" Obviously anyone can answer yes.

I don't know all the details, but I understand the UK will be requiring actual proof of age to access sites. How they will do that and what will happen with the sites not based there (which is most of them) is a good question.

You did not have to be a member before to read the threads here. It has always been this easy to read everything here. I think you did have to be a member to see attachments hosted at the site, but I’m not sure about that. Those may have been visible too.
