Another time there was a drunk couple with her on his shoulders. Did they ask for help? Nope. It was an accident waiting to happen. If they fell forward, their hands SHOULD catch them. Fall to either side? Their shoulders should stop harm. Fall backwards? Spine and head trauma. So that's where I positioned myself. Sure enough, within 5 minutes, they were falling backwards and I was there to catch their fall.

So, what if you'd let them fall?

What if that fall was an opportunity from which they could have learned something... And your intervention prevented them from learning a lesson? Or what if your assistance affirmed for them that, "Hey, we don't need to take care of ourselves, we can just wig out and someone else will be there to (literally) catch us when we fall?"

Just a couple thoughts.

Actually, what happened was; when I went over to my corner, the guy, though drunk, had a moment of realization and chased after me like a happy puppy to thank me.

I said (quite pissed off) "If you really want to thank me, realize next time, I won't be there. Think about what you are doing, before it happens!

I think my mild rebuke qualifies as a "school of hard knocks" substitute. Though you might be right. Such people have to learn the hard way before the lesson sinks in. My thought on the matter is, I give them a last chance to learn before they hit bottom.

Number 2 is where I draw the line though. I generally will not stop to help someone on the side of the road, if I'm by myself. Safety first...

I actually have on an occasion or two. Only when it was a single woman and I was afraid for her safety if I didn't help her.

I usually find myself giving them a mild lecture about how they need to be more careful in the future and that hitch-hiking alone is very dangerous.


Yes - I am a helper. by nature and by profession. And will help at rather significant inconvenience to myself.

I look forward to the day. To me? Each day is a gift. Savored from start to finish. I wake up and my first thought usually, is WOW.


I always see what is the now, sometimes not clearly. It is high on my list to not take things for granted, yet, there is still a lot of living to do.

I have a bazillion things to do this week as I am taking next week off...whether my boss likes it or not lol

I was looking forward to today with a lot of anticipation. Come Friday I will be exhausted but it will be the good kind in which everything I did to lead up to the time off will bring a sense of satisfaction.

One day is like any other. If I am working, then I appreciate that I am. If I'm not working then I appreciate the time off.

I'm an American, but what long holiday is coming??? Shows how important such notions are to me...

Some things are trade-able and scale-able, while others aren't. Houses, cars (things) can be traded up for bigger and better items. You appreciate what you have, but if something better comes along, you take the better item.

A girlfriend or wife, if I had such, is not. Beyond those I haven't a fucking clue what the question is attempting to allude to.

It's just a Monday. There are few possibilities ahead. I mean, I might get that hot ass waitress at lunch. And I might be crazy and order a salad with my meal. But those are pretty much the possibilities I have in my life. Do you have a super exciting life?

I do look forward to not working on Monday. I had a three day weekend the past weekend. And another this one. I'm excited as I like three day weekends. Because they're just better, as we all know.

I am grateful for each day. I wake up happy and thinking about what is possible ~ the challenges and opportunities that await me.

I do not wish for more than I have. I feel very very lucky. I look forward to having holiday time - but only because it affords more time with family and friends, not because it is better than other days.
