Here's a question for Litiquette rules: Is is wrong to publicly humiliate a Litster for bumping a dead thread?

Dammit, I HATE it when people do that!
This creates a whole new question--
Is it better to create a new thread or reanimate an old one if it covers the topic you have in mind?

As long as they don't over bump time and time again. I don't look at all the threads so there's a really good chance I won't see it anyway :)

I like reviving cool old threads....like the Let's Hear Your Voice thread. The newbies don't know about it, and I love hearing everyone's voices.

But it makes you wonder where they are finding these threads. 2005!!

I think I know that thread, I saw one like that this weekend and thought it was an alt that found their old thread. Hence my alt thread topic this weekend.

Yeah, but that one is different. It just gets lost in the shuffle for a month or two at a time. It's not buried in never never land for a few years.

Is that why they're always so angry in the GB - because it's the same argument over and over again?
2005 is impressive for a revival - was it in green font on a black screen? I've seen them ( so retro cool! )

Hi Serene :)

Hi Serene :)

lol...No, it didn't look like an old DOS screen. That's an idea though. Maybe we could run a Command Prompt to bring it to this decade. :)

Hi Serene :)

hello you!

:)

I'll admit it, sometimes I get irritated with the you all or the Playground, so I go poke a stick on the GB.

I wouldnt say its wrong, per se, but it isnt very nice or very polite to bump a dead thread where nothing has been going on for weeks.

What punishments other than humiliation would you suggest for chronic bumpers?

In RL it's easy to avoid people but you can see someone's post from there hours ago and the irritation is any lessened. There's just no place to hide so either i fight through it or move along.

I put topics out early morning, late at night and at least once a day. Am I bumping my own thread? Do I deserve the bumpers flog?

Speaking just for myself, I think there's a difference in 'bumping' a thread and actually adding content.
If a person has something to say they should say it--there's a few miles between irritated and actually getting angry. One's a sort of knee jerk and the other an emotional investment.

As for the flogging, that's entirely up to you. Were you looking for volunteers? :D

Night time topic: have you ever posted on a thread, exchanging posts, hoping to display your wit, banter, and grasp of the language in an attempt to impress a frequent visitor to the thread? Is that bad, are you using the innocent post partner.

I wouldn't know about this.
