LitWridoNaNoWriMo - The Support Thread

Congratulations, BardsLady! It's wonderful to see how much you've enjoyed NaNo. :D Have another nana :nana:

Thank you, everyone, for your words of congratulations. Pops, Crimson, Effing Cake Guy, Purrdita and Alex: everything you said means so much to me.

Og, I feel so happy, honoured and privileged to be the subject of your first nana-ing. Woohoo!

Lauren, thanks for your support for everyone throughout. It means a lot that non-NaNo participants drop in from time to time.

Lou, 'da blokette' I love that! :D

Further congratulations to those who have crossed over. My apologies for not reading all the excerpts people have posted, and for not patting each of you on the back individually. I'm barely keeping my head above water between work, home and writing a 50K word story. But I wanted to add my kudos to the cheering throngs.

There are still 5 1/2 days left for us to keep plugging away. Keep up the good work NaNoers, and I hope you all are still enjoying the challenge.

-Mike B.

I'm officially admitting that I'll not be able to finish my story in time.

31.379 words left to go, and only 5 more days to write, of which Saturday is going away, since that's the night when i'll go to se the Chippendales.

I won't be able to finish before NaNo is over for this year, but I WILL finish my story.

NaNo has been an interesting and educational and motivational experience. I haven't written so intensely for many, many years, if ever. I'm on a writing High, and will use it for the Survivor contest.

But you tried. You suffered. We suffered with you and for you.

You probably spent more effort on your word count than I did on mine because I can turn out reams on a keyboard while you are on the second page of your notebook.

I have had only three years as an author of any sort of fiction but I had the basic tools for writing in quantity and at speed. I have been using wordprocessors since the early 1980s. Before then I dictated to my secretary.

3000 words a day is my normal output but much of it is still work-related.

Finish your story when you can. You already have a greater word count than most of those who started NaNo.

Regards and a virtual hug from

Og

That's the attitude, course, you may just get an insomniac rage one night this week and type your fingers nearly off.

And when you get back from seeing the chippies, we expect a full report. :D

-FF (me too, if I don't finish in time, I'm still going to finish)
ps. congrats to everyone who has finished.

Oh, do I really need to say this?...

Then you won , baby! In a much more real sense than any word-count will ever be able to prove.

Kånngrattulejshonns!

Señoras y Caballeros:

On the advice of my agent (i.e., very special friend) I've decided I am no longer working toward achieving 50K words by midnight Nov 30/Dec 1. In fact, I will work against that goal. If I happen to reach 49,999 words by the deadline I will deliberately stop and not write the next until after that midnight hour.

I'm in the midst of writing a novel, a real piece of writing; that is enough satisfaction for me. I am not a competitive person, certainly not with myself or my friends, so I was beginning to not like the anxiety of the last few days. Now I can relax.

Svenska-mou, you and I will be AH's NaNo black sheep (no comments, please) and wear the label proudly. Perhaps you might come up with a special AV for us?

Happy and proud,

Perdita

I've done it! Woohoo! :D

I hit 50,081 words at 2:40 this afternoon, and it's been validated. Yay!

I'm one happy woman right now. I've still got some more of my novel to write, too, which is really cool.

Thanks to each and everyone one of you for making this one of the best experiences of my life. The support, attitude and encouragement of you all has been awesome.

I must send some special thanks to Mike, for getting me into this, and to Adam for joining me in it. You two have been with me all the way, and I know you are both close to completion yourselves.

There's a lot of others who are close, too. Keep at it guys, you can get there.

I love you all!

Tatelou - doing a happy dance. :nana::heart:

Congrats Tatelou for reaching the 50K!!!! :D

I know you've written an amazing piece of work and put in a huge amount of effort into it! The 50K+ you have written shines as a result! If, when I complete mine it's half as good as yours I'll be one happy man :)

PS. otherdarkmeat thanks for the words of encouragement throughout and for your generous donation to NaNoWriMo on my and Tatelou's behalf. Without NaNoWriMo I would never have thought I had it in me :)

Dear Perdita - congratulations on achieving the real goal - write that novel. I am waiting to read it because I know it will be wonderful. Your peeks inside what you are doing have sold me as well as any dust jacket blurb ever could.

Polly, you keep it up too. I agree with Ice - you've already won because of what the effort has done for you.

It's possible that I too will fail Nov 30th. My sons are giving me all they can for support. I will be going to the mountains tomorrow and not returning until Sunday night. Only time will tell how close to the goal I'll get.

-FF (hmm... wonder if I'll be the third bag full)

Thanks, Light.

You've written a brilliantly witty novel, and I know you've almost completed it (I threatened to get that whip out, didn't I? :D). Our novels are very different, but both equally as good within their own genres. Yours will have mass appeal, I can't see anyone not enjoying yours. Mine's a little more, erm 'selective'. People will either love it or hate it. But I hope those that are passionate about erotic horror will love mine. Whatever, I wrote exactly what I wanted to write, and had a hell of a time doing it! :D

That is a wonderful attitude Svenska. NaNo is about personal challenges, and if we get something out of it that is personal to us, then we are all winners.

You are a winner, and I want to congratulate you for the journey you have made.

Good for you!

Perdita, you have also achieved much, both personally and creatively. I love your writing, it has such a beautiful heart-felt feel to it.

You are also a winner, and my congratulations go out to you, too.

I must put on record here (again) the gratitude I feel towards Chris Baty, the founder of NaNoWriMo. It's through his vision, drive, administration and organization that we, and many thousands like us, have had the opportunity to realise our potential. I'd kiss him if I could. Mike, when you next see him...? :D

I can now breath a sigh of relief and shout to the world I've reached the 50K mark!!!

Despite the hard work it's been at times, I've had huge amounts of fun from doing this. I've also gained humungous amounts from this.... and still the words keep flowing onto the page! At this moment in time I could go on writing forever! :D

Yay! Congratulations, Light. Have a nana: :nana: :D

I knew you'd do it, how could my hubby not complete? ;)

You've been a great support and encouragement to me throughout, and you have written a damn fine novel in the process.

It's so great seeing everyone still cheering every body else on. This kind of makes me want to bust out another idea and keep writing until the end of the month, though I know I couldn't possible reach another real goal after all of that.

After reading all the excerpts (since I have time now) I find that I could have put so much more into my own novel. I guess that's what editing is for. I was just happy I got through 50,000 words easily, with little struggle. Typically I can form an idea but I can't see it through to the end.

Good work to everyone whether it be completing the 50k words, realizing that writing quality is better than quantity, or for just staying true to your writing the whole way through. Congrats!

Thank you, everyone. You have been very sweet and supportive during this exhausting month. I admire you for your determination, your disciplin, and your writing skills.

And I admire you for your sense of humor, your stamina in keepign with it, and your determination to at least undertake this insanity.

Look at it this way, Save your work because you never know when you may need some inspiration for writing an Erotic story. ;)

It helps to have stuff sitting around gathering dust.

Thanks Lou. I am getting impatient and want to be done already, LOL.

Description is my friend. I just knocked off another 235 words by describing the attire of the wedding party, lol.

I'm thinking of using it for Lit's Survivor contest, as "Novels & Novellas".

Svenska, I don't consider you a drop out. You have the drive and determination to write a complete novel. For that you deserve a commendation. Looking forward to the announcement that you have completed it. I have no doubt that it will be wonderful because you are giving it the time and attention it deserves.

*hugs CM*

Thank you. I guess I'm just in a self-critizising mood tonight. I forgot mum's birthday!:( I'm bad. Sniff. Bad Svenska. Go to your room! ;)
