Feeling the fear...

Well, tonight I am feeling the fear. My love, now with ample spare time thanks to being laid off...has made a decision. She has volunteered to travel to Alabama for a little over 3 weeks in order to help take care of relatives who badly need her help.

Now, I must admit that something really amazing happened. When she first told me about her decision...I thought I would be scared about *us* and how this trip would affect our relationship. However, that did not happen. Instead, I found myself feeling strong, confident about how she and I were as a couple. Really, my only fear is that she will be traveling alone...causing me to sit in agony and tear my hair out until she is safe.

So, while I am fearful about her traveling...I do know that her trip will be a wonderful blessing to her family, and that she will be able to make a difference in their lives at a critical stage. I am still amazed at how confident I am in *us*...and she returns my confidence. It was a beautiful discussion we had. I love her like crazy.

Long Disntance Relationships

Can be difficult at times. Sometimes you yearn for that eye contact or that touch, or the scent of the person you're involved with.

On the other hand, it can be so much better than a relationship with someone in close proximity, because (and I think this has been said many times on this thread) you are forced to talk and therefore share so much of who you really are with each other.

I have know idea where I'm going with this, just rambling. lol

I think the internet has opened up a whole new way of meeting people and getting to know them. There are no "one-night-stands" on the internet, you pretty much have to build an emotional (for lack of a better word) relationship before you can move on to the physical part. I think thats a very good thing. Not that I'm against casual sex (lord knows) but, for me, there's a much greater reward in building a real relationship, whether it leads to sex or just friendship.

The internet has tought me so much about myself, things I don't think I would have ever realized otherwise.
