Oh, yes, of course. Cas said that it wasn't spicy enough for her by itself, and I said that I only use it without other spices (usually), in salad. But even then I put hot oil on, because I like All The Things to be spicy. As you say, cilantro is not at all hot.

Right - sorry if my post was unclear. @Diosax Cilantro/ corriander is NOT spicy. It can be used as an ingredient in a whole range of dishes from many parts of the world that may or may not be spicy with other ingredients. I meant that generally if a dish is flavored with cilantro alone, I am probably gonna be looking to add something else to it.
And... I would just say that I am a pretty adventurous eater - will order stuff I have never heard of on a menu and if there is a cuisine I haven't tried yet, I will see about having meal if I can.
My original comment was to object to the idea that cilantro is the ingredient white people use when they are afraid of spice.
*and now I am sorely tempted to make a Dune reference*
