Thank you, Harold, for a very informative article on the positive effects of much-needed regulation.

A Miami jury began deliberating the fate of a man who faces up to 35 years in prison for setting up a marijuana growing operation in a bedroom of his house, in what he says was an act of love to help his wife who is recovering from breast cancer.
Ricardo Varona, 43, was arrested in July 2014 and charged with marijuana trafficking after police said they seized 15 live marijuana plants that could have produced more than 30 pounds of usable weed.
Here's we sit now after the Liberal's took power Monday.

Along North-east Sandy Boulevard in Portland, Oregon, there’s a stretch known as the “Green Mile”. Here, medical marijuana dispensaries are budding. Almost two years ago, when Matt Walstaller opened Pure Green in the area, there was only one competitor. Today there’s close to 10.
In the beginning business was booming, recalled Walstaller. But last autumn, Pure Green’s traffic started to slow.
“Then we looked at the numbers. There was a couple thousand new medical cardholders, but two or three times as many stores as there had been the year before,” said Walstaller.
Oversaturation and shaky business plans have led some dispensaries down a path of no return. “I know of some shops that have closed, and I’ve heard of others that have been sold,” said Walstaller.
Since 1 October, when the sale of recreational marijuana was legalized , struggling businesses have found firm footing again . At Pure Green, the amount of customers per day has tripled. Donald Morse, who owns the Human Collective medical dispensary in south-west Portland, also experienced a substantial uptick in business since 1 October.
But as the director of the Oregon Cannabis Business Council, Morse says the number of license holders is consistently going down month to month. “We didn’t need all those dispensaries. A lot of people got into it, but they were not well financed and were hanging on by their fingertips,” said Morse. “The shake-out has begun. Those with sound business practices will survive, those without are going to fail.”
High-strength cannabis may damage nerve fibres that handle the flow of messages across the two halves of the brain, scientists claim. Brain scans of people who regularly smoked strong skunk-like cannabis revealed subtle differences in the white matter that connects the left and right hemispheres and carries signals from one side of the brain to the other.
The changes were not seen in those who never used cannabis or smoked only the less potent forms of the drug, the researchers found.
Paola Dazzan , a neurobiologist at the Institute of Psychiatry at King’s College London, said the effects appeared to be linked to the level of active ingredient, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), in cannabis. While traditional forms of cannabis contain 2 to 4 % THC, the more potent varieties (of which there are about 100), can contain 10 to 14% THC, according to the DrugScope charity.
“If you look at the corpus callosum, what we’re seeing is a significant difference in the white matter between those who use high potency cannabis and those who never use the drug, or use the low-potency drug,” said Dazzan. The corpus callosum is rich in cannabinoid receptors, on which the THC chemical acts.
“The difference is there whether you have psychosis or not, and we think this is strictly related to the potency of the cannabis,” she added. Details of the study are reported in the journal Psychological Medicine .
Great news, Royce. I managed to harvest my crop successfully again this year even with the ordinance officers checking everywhere. Since I was within guidelines for a co-operative, I suppose I wasn't worth investigating, as it probably wouldn't lead to a winning court case for the prosecution. I am so glad I didn't give in to fear, and continued in my peaceful, law-abiding manner.
JackLuis, yes, I did read both of those articles. I have been smoking 25% THC pot for over 10 years and pot in general since I was 14. I will be 64 on my next birthday and am in the best of health, so maybe I should let the doctors study me. LOL
Yes, JackLuis, the shift towards research is getting great support. I am most impressed by the Israeli research and all of its benefits for mankind. The one thing about marijuana is that it improves one's health in so many ways, which is a positive thing. But, I often think there is a conspiracy to shorten everyone's lives with the food additives, pesticides, and the like, especially those of us who are retired and no longer paying any taxes into the system. Sugar is the worst of all the additives, of course, even though it is "natural". I avoid sugar most of the time, but the holidays brings so many sweets I find I do indulge at times, and experience the negative effects more each year.

JackLuis, I am more of a realist than you, I suppose, but Bernie as the V.P. with Bill Clinton as First Man sounds perfectly wonderful to me. -
