Maryland is for lovers?

Hello Marylanders,

How are y'all? I do hope your upcoming holiday is wonderful. Have a great day, week.

Spurtman, maybe you can relate to this. I am not a very good golfer, have only broken 100 once before, normally shoot around 103-104. I have taken a few lessons and have been working hard on swing. I played in a tournament last Saturday and on the front 9 I was having a career day. With my handicap I had a 29 for the front 9, 7 under par, so I was starting to get worried when the wheels would come off when I started the back 9.

10 and 11 went well but then on 12 I hit a good drive but it leaked a little left and went into a 5' wide creek that runs along the left side of the fairway, now I have a penalty. Then I have a 135 yard shot. 135 is usually either a 7 or 8 iron for me but I had not been hitting them long so I went with the 7 iron. Everything went right with swing for some reason. I took a nice divot, that nice click sound as the ball leaves the club and everything just felt smooth as butter. The only problem was since everything went perfect I hit it about 170 yards. lol. Way over the green and back into a crap area for a lost ball. I get an 8 on that hole.

Move to 13 where the tee is high up on a hill and have to hit through a narrow opening. I always get nervous on this tee back. I whack the drive and it goes through the opening and I think I am good till it decides a take right turn and go into the wood. Grrr. Second drive is good but down 2 shots already. My drive landed under some trees so I have to hit a low show out. There is about 20 yards between trees. I hit my shot, it goes out low under the tree limbs, perfect but of course I hit one of the trees. I was thinking that if someone said they would give me a million dollars if I could hit that 6" diameter tree on purpose I could never do it but of course not wanting to I did. lol So I end up with an 8 on that hole.

Hole 14 is a par 3. Of course I hook 2 drives into the trees. Another disaster hole. Wheels are coming off now. I did manage to get back on track for the remaining holes but what started off as a career day had to land in the shitter. lol. If I had played the back 9 like I did the front 9, I would have won my first golf tournament ever.

Playing in a flag tournament on the 4th so looking forward to that.

StarGazer, I can definitely relate! I'm about same as you, usually shoot around 100, although I recently had my own career day at the club I belong to, and shot a 91! Since then on the same course I went 105 and 101. Unfortunately, that's golf -- some days you've got it, some days you don't.

I will pass on one tip I recently read in a golf magazine which has really made a difference off the tee, and has all but eliminated my "power fade" (others would call it a "slice," LOL). The tip is this: strengthen your grip. If you're right-handed, that means turning your right hand clockwise, and gripping the club almost underneath, if that makes sense, with your right thumb resting gently on the grip, pointing straight down.

It may take some getting used to, but I suspect you'll find it'll straighten up your drives, and also give you more distance.

As for your "brilliant front nine, shitty back nine," it happens to me all the time, one way or another.

At the end of the day, I'd be delighted to play bogey golf -- shoot 89 or 90 consistently, sneaking in three to five pars a round, along with mostly bogeys and maybe a handful of double-bogeys. It's the triples -- 7 on a par 4, 8 on a par 5 -- that'll kill you every time.

Enjoy your 4th of July holiday and the tournament tomorrow. Try the stronger grip at the range first, and if you're at all comfortable with it, on the course.

I'm out of town beginning this evening until Sunday, but will check back for a full report. Good luck!

Hi Spurtman,
I have strengthened my grip, thanks for the tip. My normal swing is a big outside in which puts the banana curve on the ball so have been working on the swing path. I am to the point that I hit some straight and some still with the slice but I have also started to hit some to the left. Not a hook but a straight shot way left so I know that I have changed things in my swing. I am not sure what I am doing wrong when it goes left. Maybe turning my body too much, maybe the club head angle, not sure but I will take another lesson soon to get a better idea of what I am doing wrong. I have improved some since I do get some straight down the fairway which use to never happen.

Yeah, my goal is bogey golf too. I would be happy if I can ever achieve that consistently.

My group did win the flag tournament so I was happy with that. I did contribute some shots so I was not a total spectator in the win.

Have a great away weekend. I am sure I have put a few people to sleep with this post. lol.

This thread is the worst.

If you and booklife don't like the thread then post something interesting. Just saying snooze and the thread is the worst will not make it any better. What have you contributed to make the thread more interesting? I am going to retire from the thread so will be leaving it in intoanythin and booklifes capable hands to make it fun again.

I just think that this is a sex site, I mean, we are all on here to look at and talk about sex, right? I don't want you to leave the site, just saying that Maryland is better than just weather talk on a porn site

StarGazer, don’t let those who only use their voices to complain get you down. I may not post consistently here, but it is one thread I always make a point to check because it’s nice to see what you and the few others who do post are up to, and also because it’s refreshing to find beautifully ordinary people doing ordinary things on a sex site instead of all the over the top sex on every other thread.

I was actually teasing..but I realize that it doesn't come through very well through text. If I don't have an interest in a particular post, I just scroll past. I figured since you made the comment first, you'd know that my comment was in jest as well.

Hello Friends

Greetings,

I'm xantedeschia and I'm a 38yo F from near Baltimore. I'm not new to the site but have only recently decided to dive into the forums to talk with actual people.

I'm pretty introverted by nature. So, I spend most of my time online or with my head in some task. I'm really fond of knitting, crocheting, gardening (such as it is), reading, writing, sewing, exercising, learning new things and listening to music.

That's about it really. Look forward to talking with you all.

Fun in DC..

Hi everyone!

I haven't logged on here in a _very_ long time. But feeling a bit hot tonight (no A/C) so thought I'd introduce myself (again!).

I'm 40. Fit. Single. A lover of books and beds and bourbon.. and had an amazing weekend of baseball games and bbqs and am not, quite, ready for it to be over.

What's the last good book you read?

StarGazer, ElGirlDani, I go away for the weekend and . . . .

. . . . we get critics and naysayers . . . and, yes, a couple of newbies (welcome to you all, by the way!).

Agree with StarGazer, please don't bitch . . . . contribute! Yes, this is a sex site, but folks on this thread have a healthy sex life AND a non-sex life.

Besides, gardening and golf can both be fun . . . . and sexy. Gardening involves planting, seeding, spraying, holes, filling holes, etc.

Golf involves shafts, balls, holes, slices (unfortunately), hooks (better, but not ideal), club heads, rough, intermediate rough, shaved rough, etc.

The point: we share both our day-to-day as well as our fantasy lives -- and that's a good thing. Please share with us!

I can see where you were teasing BookLife. You’re right, that doesn’t always translate the best through text. I think if the next comment hadn’t been blatantly negative yours would have been fine. But that’s the nature of a public forum; anyone can post anything and sometimes it gets to be difficult to filter through the haters to see who’s just having fun. :rose:

I've fallen asleep reading Stargazer's golf posts before.

But we're still friends. :D:D

Welcum aboard, I hope your stay will be as pleasant as mine has been.

Saturday night

Anyone going to O's game Saturday night or will be between stadium & Northern Baltimore County? We are not going to as many games this year, but we started a tradition a few years ago where wife rides home topless. Always hoping to show her off.
