I used to see Jason D. Williams a lot on Crook and Chase Show on The Nashville Network here in Canada. Saw Jerry Lee Lewis live twice in the 1980's.
The first time I saw him was on a Friday night in Dearborn, MI... a friend had told me I should see him. To be honest, I thought he was a blues guitar player and have NO idea where that came from. I called my friend Beth and we agreed to go. We got there early and the guy said there were no tickets left but hold on a bit, and there was a good chance some would be available.. He comes to get us a little bit later and says okay, that's 20 bucks... I told the guy that Mr Williams better get down and blow me after the show for that price...we often went to the great dive bars in Detroit and usually never paid more than 10 bucks... but we paid and went in.
I went to see him the next night too. He was amazing, thrilling, energetic, and just outstanding. He played with his hands, feet, head, microphone stand.. did headstands on the keyboard and played...and i have never seen anyones hands move soooooo fast.
An unheralded legend, to say the least. Helluva nice guy too..
