Midnight's Record Shop

While I like rock classics and have been lucky to attend a lot of concerts the once record I always love from way back when, that I like to listen to...Seals and Crofts Greatest Hits. It is my comfort food.

I saw Cheap Trick in College Station, Texas. Robin Zander strained his vocal cords coming out on the stage screaming like a damn fool! lol

I didn't care too much for the concert. :eek:

I saw Cheap Trick in the early 90's and they were very loud and very good. Roboj Zander was in fine form. I saw the Carpenters back in the 70's and they must have had a new lead guitar player because he made several noticeable mistakes. It got so bad that Richard Carpenter got up from the piano and spoke to him. I have always wondered what he said to him.

Have any of you been to a concert of a top name artist and the performance was awful? Only one I can remember was Boston - it was the tour after their first release and they played with Sammy Hagar. 'Ol Sammy opened and just blew them away; Boston at the time couldn't duplicate the heavy electronic sounds live...very disappointing.

That's a huge loss to the music world. She had one of the purest voices I ever heard. "Blue Bayou" is still one of my favorites.

She was promoting the album that contained Your No Good at the concert I attended. She sang that and all the rest of her hits. She had a really good band backing her that night too. Danny Kortchmar was on guitar.
 
I went to a Rock and Roll Revival show in the 1980's. Bobby Curtola, Lou Christie, Freddie "Boom Boom" Cannon, The Coasters, The Chiffons with Chuck Berry closing. Everyone was awesome except Chuck. n fact he was down right terrible I have heard that from a number of people hat he iss lousy live.
 
Sorry to hear about Linda. I played the Blue Bayou album over and over. My mom HATED. Thought it made an awful racket.

I sawa Chuck Berry tribute show with Keith Richards and Berry wasn't very good. His playing style was pretty good for the 50's but it doesn't hold up to modern guitar players.

A couple of song fats from the past.

1957, songwriter Paul Anka was at No.1 on the UK singles chart with 'Diana' (written about his brother's baby-sitter). His only UK No.1 as an artist, Anka was the first teenage solo act to reach No.1. Anka is a Canadian by the the way, although I bet a lot of people think he is American.
 
How about this. 1962, Little Eva went to No.1 on the US singles chart with 'The Loco-motion'. The Carole King and Gerry Goffin song was offered to Dee Dee Sharp (Mashed Potatoes), who turned it down. Turns out Eva was Carole King and Gerry Goffin's babysitter. I find that a little hard to believe but who knows.

Silver lining to getting old is look at all the amazing concerts we went to when tickets were still affordable!!!

That is so true. I was holding 6 tickets to Elvis' upcoming concert in Memphis in 1977 (he died 3 or 4 weeks before the concert) and I paid $15 a piece for them!
