NaNoWriMo 2004 - Sign Ups!

I want this to start NOOOOOOOOOOW! *jumps up and down on chair*
I'm full of inspiration. I'm filling out a Character Chart that I found over at ecclestics, or whatever their name was, to really dig deep into my characters - what type of wrist watch does she wear? What does his underwear look like? What expletives do they use? (I had to look that word up.)
I've sketched lots of illustrations, build up whole scenes in drawings, even created their portraits pixel-by-pixel!
*pulls reins in mouth*
Let's GO already!

Where'd you find that character chart?

Sounds like it would be a lot of help.

Thanks for the link, Svenska.

I doubt I will fill in all the blanks, but it can't hurt to see how far I can go.

:D

Mind you, that's their updated, inferior version. Their old one was much, much better. It was a PDF-file. I'll read up on how to make PDF-files tomorrow, when I'm awake, and I'll scan in a paper copy I have left from last year, PDF it, upload it to my server, and put up a proper link for ya.

Very useful, Character Charts.

If you are writing a long story, like Nano with several characters, equally useful is a chronology chart (I make my own) Start with the oldest, work down through the major events in the story life. Add the other characters and their ages relative to the oldest, ie when John is 18, Janet is 15. You can add other family members, children etc ad infinitum
Works for me.

Did I mention that I've written out a 3-page synopsis and divided it into 30 parts, thus giving me a quota of story to write each day?

Isn't she just mate... surely Svenska dear, a piece like that would have done for the entry, must run to 50,000 words in itself.:D

I was thinking of an Autobiography this year, but I got the planning to 13 and realised no fucker would ever be able to publish it on decency grounds:devil:

I'll read it, pirate man. Send it to me in bits even.

Totally off topic: God, Perdita, I love your AV. It's gorgeous. :D
Thank you! It's my work. You can see more on the last two or three pages of the Abstrusions thread. P. :)

Ok, off to have a look. In case you didn't know yet, I'm a sucker for flowers.

:rose: :D

Not long to go now!!!

So good to see other nuts as excited about it as I am. :D

I am getting a wee bit nervous. I have my concept in my mind and think I know how I want it all to go, but I have yet to do any planning, plotting or character anything at this point!

I am in awe of you all!

Don't be! Seriously!

I've done hardly any planning, too, although I do have a fair idea of the characters in my head.

Last year I did absolutely no planning. I had a basic idea of the story in my mind and that was it, and I just flew through. I found writing that way an incredibly liberating experience.

that sounds about like me then :D

I have a text document on my desktop with about 300 words in a few short sentences, just so I don't forget little things I want to include, or reminders on the direction I want it to take at certain point, but I think that if I don't get some free time between now and then...it will all be seat-of-my-pants writing!

I'm taking a different approach, I hope no one thinks it's bending the rules.

I'm going to use Nano to finish the first draft of a novel. I'll meticulously record progress as from 1st Nov. So far I'm at 65k words - Chpt 11, I'm planning to be around 100k by the start and will try to finish the first draft during Nano.

Currently averaging 4k words per day but there will be days later this month when I will be unable to write.

Yep, sounds great to me! You will seriously love this!!

Lou

P.S. Svenska, yep, you're crazy. :D

Hmmm, that's actually breaking the rules, not just bending them, but I won't tell anyone if you don't. ;)

I'll be writing a sequel to a draft novel that I've decided to break into two parts. Definitely two parts, almost separate stories. Just some of the same characters.

Convincing? :D
