New Literotica Story Page Feedback & Comments

Prefer the new layout, but regarding colours and font sizes, would it be possible to have the same option as on SOL (apologies if mentioning that is a no-no!) but that site allows you to customize the page font, size and colours. Reading on an evening and I switch to a dark mode, the default on here is far too bright in those situations.

I try to use the app, but that chops off the bottom of every page if the font size is above normal.

Suggestions

I like the new story page. It’s much easier to read and looks more up to date. Here are some suggestions to make it better.

1. Put the tag block on page one. Readers often pan a story because it contains content they didn’t expect. Nobody goes to the last page to check the tags before reading it. Having them there is like giving diners a menu after they finish eating.

2. Put the number of pages at the top as well as the bottom of the page. Sometimes I’m not in the mood for a 9 page story. It would be nice to know the story’s length without having to scroll to the bottom of the page. I do most of my reading on my iPhone so it’s tedious to scroll. Another option is posting the word count on page one.

Keep up the good work. I love the site and really appreciate the improvements.

Both the tag block and story length are at the top right of the first page. There was an earlier discussion as to the best way to show story length (it's currently shown as an estimated reading time, but that may change). Tags are hidden by default, but appear with a click.

Generated Tags

Noticed that the tags shown in the new story page appear to have been generated rather than those mentioned at the time of publishing a story. Not a complaint as some are better than I had thought of, but does this mean that it is not necessary to list tags when publishing stories in the future?

Laurel does change/add tags, but I'd keep listing those you think are most relevant. But yes, I agree, the changes she's made have been better, for my stories at least.

Laurel will sometimes add or change tags ( almost always to your benefit ) but all of mine are showing the tags I expect when I look at them in the new story view.

I just now opted to view the new format, so I'll readily admit I haven't tinkered with it much yet. I've read several of the other posts here (not all). I know a big part of your troubles here in testing this is the multiple formats people are able to read the site on these days, rather than the one option available when I joined, nearly twenty years ago.

I do the majority of my perusal of the site on a PC (yeah, I'm old school, what can I say)...

A couple things I'd like to see:

For so many years, the story pages have had HUGE margins, particularly on the right side. Typically, the only thing that spans the majority of the screen is the advertisement at the top of the page (and/or the bottom, depending). I understand the need for the ads. I can look past that. However, since this is a story site, doesn't it make a little more sense to have more of the story on the screen?

Also, since I'm getting older and my eyes don't work quite as well as they used to, I've wanted for quite a while now an option to adjust font size. Some days, the text on the screen is nearly unreadable at the default size. From the site end, I know changing font size also would change pagination, but I know there are plenty of older folks out there in Lit-land who might appreciate the ability to make the site more legible.

I’ve no aesthetic concerns about the new layout, but there is one practical concern on mobile.

The rating stars are larger and more easily accessible... meaning it’s easier for a guy with big thumbs to accidentally vote on something he doesn’t intend to vote on or to give a story a 5 when he doesn’t wish to. I’ve accidentally voted on several stories this way since the new design came into play. While not a major concern, it is... irksome.

I just set the browser zoom to 1.25 - 1.50 and that works for me. Default size is a problem across every website so one setting fixes them all.

I always use my mobile and once, a long time ago, I accidentally gave a story the wrong star. I now stretch the screen with finger and thumb to enlarge the star I want to hit. Simple and no more mistakes.

thinks is a good new view..more clear and nes informations it's ok for me using these from two weeks no bug

While not specific to the beta test per se, I also wouldn't mind if you could change a rating. choosing a rating accidentally on a touch screen is just one of the reasons it would be nice to change a rating once you have made it.

Nice

Being able to see the story tags from the first page of the story is a major improvement.

After reading a story in the new format I'd ask for one thing. A nighttime mode. Very light text on a very dark background, because it's a lot less eyestrain for us cave dwellers and vampires.

On the new Story Page, you should be able to change your rating anytime. If it doesn't work, please let me know.

Thank you! :D

Excited to let you know that we just rolled out Font Customization for the BETA Lit Story Page.

Please see the announcement here:
http://forum.literotica.com/showthread.php?t=1515554

We need your help testing the new feature. Please let us know about any issues or bugs you find, as well as suggestions for improving the feature.

Thank you. :D

Review

I like the visuals in the new format. As several others have commented already, it would be nice to know the length of the story up front and also the date of posting.:)

Funny that, I was just aboyt to add a request for the date of posting in the Story info Block.

Color change

What I'd really like to see is a way to invert the colors to white text over a black background. It really is that much easier on the eyes to read that way.

We are working on different color themes for the new interface, but it's a bigger job than just the story page (since the themes would apply to the entire interface, not just stories) so it will likely take a bit longer to complete and roll out.

Thank you. :D

Looks amazing!

The font size is perfect on the phone, but for me, it's very small on a computer.

Question: Will there ever be a way to see how many pages a story is when it's in preview? One of my biggest fears when submitting is that the story will spill over to the next page with only a few sentences, or worse, just one sentence.

Larger fonts

I really like the ability to change fonts and make them larger. It makes reading the stories much easier for those us us with older eyes.

Problems with rating stories

I love the new story page format. My only problem so far is that when I get to the end of the story I need to refresh the page before I can select a score, bookmark or favorite an author. I’m using Chrome on iOS. It may be related to zooming in on the screen so the story fills the screen.

Thank you for the feedback. I will test this.

Are you on an iPhone or an iPad? Do you zoom the page because you are trying to get rid of the right side column, or for some other reason? We have an update coming soon that should make the reading area single column for non-Pro iPads.

Just wanted to give some feedback on the new look features. As an older contributor, my vision has seen better days, and I truly appreciate the opportunity of selecting larger fonts. I have a tablet and phone to access Literotica, and can obviously expand pages and thus improve general readability. However, this seems like a much needed make - over. I need to use the beta more prior to commenting on the other features.

I agree with sbrooks. The comments-feature should be urgently redesigned.
