The only thing I use it for is if I occasionally get a wild hare to do something with data. Most recently, I downloaded a list of my stories and categorized the rough ending type for each of my LW stories: Revenge, Reconciliation, Moving On, or Other. While it's not a major concern for me, I do like to keep the reader guessing, so I plan to occasionally check if any of them are getting a much higher percentage than the others. So far, Reconciliation narrowly holds the lead. :D

Isn't reconciliation frowned upon there? Or is that one of those "well, there's a faction against it, but most..."

It depends. Unearned reconciliation, what they call RAAC (reconciliation at all costs) is disliked; this would include things like "stayed together just for the kids," "forgave her without any additional work on her part besides saying 'sorry,'" or, worst of all, throwing himself into a cuckolding or hotwife lifestyle after the wife cheated, i.e. "better to ask forgiveness than permission."

Earned reconciliation can fly, though; I've got two Hs with full reconciliation endings, admittedly only from emotional affairs. My highest rated at 4.71 is sort of reconciliation, too; it involves memory loss, so I classified it as "Other," but others have called it a reconciliation. There's another H where they don't reconcile but co-parent well, and the POV character is the potential other man, who gets together with the wife years later; another "Other" that got called reconciliation because the triad all end up on good terms with each other at the end.

I don't have a reconciliation story below 4.2 in there, and I don't have a "Revenge" above 4.58, although I do have a couple of "Moving On" that are higher than that. In fact, "Moving On" and "Other" are the winners int he category, from what I've seen, at least in the time I've been here.

I'll add one additional wrinkle: there are guys that I know like cuckolding stories and hotwifing stories, but who also hate RAAC. Those guys, for certain, see a difference between "this is meant for fapping/my particular fetish" and "this is meant to be a dramatic story that might have some sex in it," and they approach the stories appropriately. I've seen that both here and over on Lush, too.
