New Poetry Recommendations

Yet another beautiful Monday morning here (or not so beautiful, if you're not a fan of extreme early-morning heat), and there is only one audio poem posted as of yet. Will keep checking back in for the day's postings. :)

The new poems list is finally up and I hope I'm not stepping on your toes duckiesmut but I just had to mention Another Fucking Love Poem by Tathagata, it's a cracking poem and my favourite of the day.

Twenty-nine new poem entries today from which I plucked seven – eight if you count duplication.

First up Any Day 4.45 p.m. which earned a green E, Avenida De Independencia and the beautiful Drowning

“Lower her
Watch the indigo waters
Make blonde ribbons of her hair”

by vamplawyer , a writer who has devoted his talent to stories until now but has a fine eye and pen for poetry. I for one will be looking for more.

Next Sold! by Curiouswife is a strong poem. What we women put up with!

Then Inspiration by quietpoet using sea and beach metaphors to create summery erotic images.

And bluerains’ poem racing engines, appears again under the title In The Fast Lane. NASCAR as erotica. I don’t like motor sports but I like this poem.

Lastly Be Like Bukowski by dcpoet44 . I’m not familiar enough with Bukowski to know if “it sucked” or not but I liked it.

So, my friends, there's something for everyone. Read, vote, leave a comment and then go write a poem.

Only one comment on this poem, I hope that more people drop by and read it, welcome this new poet. I missed it when it first came out, and found it through the Roll Call Thread (which I recommend for you to read -- I try to stop by once a week, but do not always get there, when I catch up I find a lot of interesting new writers here! Lets keep 'em

It seems the water may not be so hard to draw because
her breasts are orange-halves

round, firm, alive

No reviews yet today so I just wanted to mention a couple that I really liked starting with

Social Work by Bogusbrig, Love his work .

Summer mornings by Dorksical, still a relatively new poet but I really find her work inspiring.

And my absolute favourite of the day is In My Dreams by ~hellbaby~, it's a beautiful poem and just had a major inpact on me.

Just had to mention these wonderful poems :)

RhymeFairy's worked really hard to improve. She has a new poem I want to mention. Love's Garden . I think the sweetness quotient is a bit high and I'd have chosen a different title but, you know, it's all down to tastes. Go read it, please.

I can see real improvement. I hope more readers will comment and support this poet. :)

i second this poem,

and second the mention of this new poet as well. (actually, i third it, since annaswirls brought her to everyone's attention right away.)

I just have to mention Nesting by quietpoet, in my opinion it's an excellent piece of poetry and I can't understand why it's only got one comment (from me) please go and check it out if you can :)

A Few

I liked over the past few days....

Tied - Sabina_Tolchovsky

Take the flesh that has been offered;
brazen and whole
a deeper truth burns bright
contrast,
against the lies of the surface.

I always find something in her poems that makes me think, or smile, or shake my head in envy.

Poetic Purpose tungtied2u

I'm frankly stunned this poem wasn't mentioned.

I tire of poetic reflection,
of extrapolations on situations
poised in varied word play
about days and nights,
seasons,
reasons for fights
or flights from relationships,

Anyone who writes here should read this not just for the content, but because this man writes some great stuff with a great style.

MRI - willowrain

One of the best " new" poets , though I have a feeling she's been writing for years and years, her work is always something new, honest, and unpretentious.

They point to my head
to my nose and the small lingering scar
from where they went in once
to take death out.

Just my opinion on a few that caught me eye

Thank you for mentioning this, as a advocate of content, I second this, strongly

Poetic Purpose
by tungtied2u ©

I tire of poetic reflection,
of extrapolations on situations
poised in varied word play
about days and nights,
seasons,
reasons for fights
or flights from relationships,
luscious lips and inviting hips
twisting to and fro in ecstasy,
sunsets slowly melting into oblivion,
rain pelting down onto sleazy streets
where wayward lamplight
is the only illumination

To what purpose are these phrases
formed and foisted upon others?
do we not hear the same music,
are the notes floating not the same
to each of us,
is not the sunlight bright,
at times blinding,
dim at others
obscured in mist,
and do two hearts not beat the same?
our lungs breathe in and out
in common refrain

Of what import is it to me
that I know how it is you see
and what you feel,
memories you have of long ago
or just last night?
What is it that you want,
that you think I ought to know?

Poetic Purpose tungtied2u
and damn it it has style
Deserves an "H" I think

No new poems to report "Boss"

I am stepping out for awhile so if they surface, feel free.
If Du gets them dumped on her which has been the case
with weekend submissions, I 'll be glad to assist you, Du!

Okay all.. I am sorry no reviews on Sunday. When I sat down to do them I got a phone call that I had to take. A change in my life so I think you all will understand me missing a day. If anyone read a poem from Sunday that you enjoyed then mention it please.
humble apologizes
Du~

Hi Du

Am just beginning to read some verse today myself..
My flavor of the month ..or many moon would have to be...

Terran transformation
by tungtied2u ©

there is so much drama and powerful images in every line its hard to
pick a favorite verse..but, I really enjoyed..this one..

you pluck the strings of my spirit
with nimble knowing fingers,
play notes that vibrate to my core

how did you know where to poke and prod me?
coax me to come out of hiding,
to lay myself before you
naked and vulnerable

am wishing my ink would have flowed in a beauty like this...chek it out for sure...

Monday's reviews...

Share with Me
by The_Fool

Sibilant smiles offered freely
Sound the measure of the moment
Freed gently
By languorous fingers
Draped loosely round her arm
Wrapped tightly round your waist

I like the flavor of this. Sexy and sweet but fresh all the same.

Meat
by bogusbrig

Don't read on a full stomach. 'The Jungle'-esque in its explicit nature...worth working past a squeamish nature.

Morning Memory (villanelle)
by BooMerengue

This has a soothing rhythm to it that is thoroughly enjoyable.

Late delivery and holidays make late reviews. No apologies.

Lots of poems attached to arrows aimed directly at someone’s heart today as usual plus one or two original ideas. These are the poems that I recommend.

Wicked Eve weaves another wonderfully mysterious gothic tale with The Greens Of Swallow Glen Some great lines here.

just cause by 4degrees. Bitter and biting.

Don’t Tell Me I Can’t Sing the Blues a villanelle by Algonquin Twit a Dorothy Parker fetishist, no less! I hadn’t seen this poets work before. I like the form and word play in his work.

Artificial_I offered a pair of poems. I thought delivery the better of the two.

Another Thought on Intimacy wham bam thankya m’am by our own Fool. Not his best, to my mind, but sexy NTL.

new poems are here for your perusal..

no reviews yesterday, so here's a recommendation.

dustystar's Whistling Dixe . it has a well-deserved E

i think the title is misspelled, unless she's playing with words, but the poem is wonderful.

I'll agree

With Dusty's poem, everything she writes has a great feel to it, and I'd add:

beautiful ugly - trisstesse

some wonderful images and though they may seem cliche', in the context they are used work perfectly for me.
In that gritty town a glance saw
only ugly but there was beauty
found when the hydro wires
wore diamonds in the rain
and swirls of rainbows fell
into the oily puddles.

It's right and true

blue ridge - Wicked Eve

you beautiful, blue bastards
rollin' round me.
just let me spin like a crazy girl
while kudzu eats old elms,
lazy days lazy drawl, and Eve spinnin' around in a thin cotton dress surrounded by green and blue mountains.
What else do you need?

Sarah's Surprise - curiouswife

I love this for many reasons.
the imagery, the language, but mostly for the ending which made me smile and pulled the whole poem into a perfect picture.

also from the other day

balance - laelia

Good to see this woman back and writing again.
I've always loved her work

Give 'em a read
Some good stuff

New Poems of Thursday July 28, 2005

There are 21 new submissions on the last Thursday of July to read, and I bring you one non-erotic "spinner" from the archives.

I apologize for missing last Thursday, but Thor (or Loki) hammered my computer. :(
Here is the spinner I had picked out:

Today's Archivity:
This poem I spun-up from March of this year.

- It took me just 3 spins to find this poem by DeepAsleep. This poet joined Lit. in July of 2004 and all but four of his poems were posted last year. This one seems to be his most recent. It has very strong imagery, a soupcon of alliteration, and is a powerful emotive work. :rose:
Eyeing The Wallpaper After A Walk

Flowers dot these walls
ringing with roses and sweet green leaves
a room where dreams have yet to free themselves
from clutching ivy and the vices that lie
within momentary lapses of judgement

Lapsing from madness to madness
pounding letters into this desk
with fingers stiff and cold from ill use
on windy walking days
where the sound of shoes on pavement is drowned
only by the beat in the center of my head

Every traveling day,
the thought is the same:

Today, I am the beating heart
of every wasted Sunday
I am the angry grief
of moments cast aside

And I have been grief
and I have been anger

And
let's be honest
I have been a fool

Chasing lovestrings like bits of paper in the wind
sewing with blood beaded fingers and a clumsy needle
tatting patterns on the skin of my heart
awful needlework I hate you
I hate the necessity of knowing

and I hate not knowing

Skittery fingers on stone floors
probe every crevice with precision -
precisely what are they looking for?
salvation redemption absolution
nirvana enlightenment
all means to an end
peace

If this thing is not in you
where do you find it
what kind of eyes must look

how much fear sleeps in what they must see?

I will find a mirror of spirit
so that I can see these eyes
that blind me to myself
but I will not find it here
in this little room
or on any road that never shows its end
to a man blinded by his own sight
***

Here are 5 from today you may like. I did. There are others.

***

One of the first two poems posted today is Cherry Lemonade Picnic for Two by ~hellbaby~. She refers to it as "pantoum-ish". I am not sure how the title adds to the poem, and I find the rhythm a little off in places, so that it doesn't sound smooth to my ear, but I salute the poet for the effort put into this form poem! The poet also offers You Stupid Fucking Bug which is a rhyming diatribe against... Well, just read the title. :)

***

Of the poems posted later, I start with Wicked Eve who has left her most enjoyable recent southern romp to travel north. And on a more somber purpose she is going to canada. (Where I guess Ottawa has disappeared, or she was just feeling small. ;) )

***

sandspike is back on the beach, or perhaps he never left. Today is beach neutral where:
longnecks empty as tan lines darken
mind numbed to an ebb
loss of inclement reality
give a shit millibars rise
life lacks calamities
a calaract view rounds off the edges
...
I guess too many beers were emptied if he thinks he has "calaracts". ;)

***

The final poem to catch my eye, 2005-07-27 by Senna Jawa is a minimalist poem of only three lines and six words that you will not appreciate upon first reading. Maybe not on second or third either, but give it a chance to seep in and percolate. Senna Jawa is one of the better contributors to Literotica (If you don't believe me, just go and ask... Him.) :rose: ;) :rose:

***

Taste is always an individual thing so there may certainly be other poems out there today that you will thoroughly enjoy. If you find ones you really like on the New Poems page, please come back and tell us about them!

And please remember that our poets need your support, so Read Vote Comment Feedback. It won’t come back around if you don’t send it out! ;)

Regards, Rybka

To A Poet, Who Would Have Me Praise Certain Bad Poets. . .
You say, as I have often given tongue
In praise of what another's said or sung,
'Twere politic to do the like by these;
But was there ever dog that praised his fleas?

Next is dark waters by bluerains I love her poetry and this is deffinitely worth a read!

Then one day by RhymeFairy ~ I have alot of respect for this poet, not only is she a wonderful poet but she is so willing to learn it's inspirational and her poetry is blossoming.

Also A Solitaire Rose: ~ Clubs ~ by My Erotic Tale who is a wonderful poet and also an inspiration to me ~ his poetry is beautiful and intelligent and never fails to make me go 'wow' I love his work.

Then last but not least it's not by the moon by annaswirls ~ I love anna's poetry and am learning alot from her and her work and this new piece is beautiful.
