Religion is plenty brutal, no matter what the flavour. Look at the persecution of Moslem Rohingya by Buddhists in Myanmar, or the Christians massacring Moslems at Srebrenica or burning crosses in your own pious country.
If you're trying to pretend Islam isn't a religion but rather some kind of "political ideology" I'd have to say you're just being silly. Look at the so-called "Christian Nationalists" in your own country: do you think they'd claim, "We're not religious, we're a political movement!"
