uh, it's a hardware firewall, AND a software fireball. nothing that is recognized by either, and their both updated daily, gets through, they are neutralized, and nothing that i don't specifically say to the security warnings to download, gets in. whats more, the web pages do not themselves virus you, they open up to your comp through net ports, thats how you get viruses. a certain location is open to a port, someone will link that to a virus, or get in useing programs to find those sites at those times,and sneak in that way. it cannot happen with my security progs. i seriously have nothing to worry about, because the people who can crack and hack their way through this system aren't going to bother themselves with some residential computer anyway, they will be going for microsfoft databases. so, nope. nothing to worry about. those that can get it, it;s like a car jacker comming to a 1981 honda civic and seeing the doors are locked, it has a club, and some alarmsystem is set up, it has a wheel guard and is chained to a post. it's not wirth the effort. they would move on to something else.

Khad my man, I have consulted with the silicon oracle, and he says that there is no such thing as a hardware firewall strictly speaking, unless by hardware firewall you just mean you have a separate computer set up running a software firewall, and then he started blathering on about something to do with firewalls and intercepting traffic for a bit. Back to your system, the only two firewalls available for windows are black ice and zone alarm (I have no idea it that's how the names are spelled), and both are, in his words, ?useless and very easily defeated'. Windows and explorer both require that you have visual basic capabilities in order to download updates. Unfortunately, if you do, and you run explore, it is simple to put a corrupt visual basic script on a site that will automatically infect explorer with a virus the moment the site is viewed - usually the virus will be a trojan horse that puts a ICMP/UDP/TCP listen port on your computer. Once the port is installed, they can do all sorts of other suff to your computer.

Whew, ok, after making me listen to all that - and since I had to, I figured it's only fair to make you bloody well have to too - he muttered that you're right and probably no one would ever bother trying to get into your computer - hehehehe, got'em!

Now, if I could just think of a suitable reward...
