BiBunny said:It's a pain the ass, I assure you. Pants are always too short; shirts are always too short; skirts are always too short. Not to mention that capris end up looking like Bermudas. (I'm 5'9" barefoot and somewhere around the 6' mark in most of my rarely-worn heels.)

I was in the center back row of every class picture from kindergarden forward. I've been this tall since I was 10- boys in Jr. high and high school go after cute little petite girls, not girls who (physically) look down on them. I wore ballet flats to Homecoming, Prom, my college sorority formals, and my wedding. I read an article online the other day, that talked about how women 5'8" and over are considered "really tall", and how much less likely men are to approach or ask them out. It's only in the last year or two I've decided to stop trying to "look shorter" and give into my love of high heels; I still sometimes feel awkward when I realize I'm an entire head taller than most people in the room.
graceanne said:Well, I recently bought a pair of capri's - they reach my ankles. I bought a pair of PETITE jeans, they have to be rolled up. Plus they assume that if you're plus size that means you're tall - so tights and other things that are impossible to hem are a PAIN IN THE ASS to buy.
Ebonyfire said:Yep there is. No knees over the age of 35 should be seen. I wish more women would look before they leap. There is nothing worse than seeing a pair of ugly knees in a mini skirt.
intothewoods said:I have two years and a couple of months left to show my knees? I hadn't thought of it like that. I usually wear skirts that end just above the knee. But no knees at all after 35?
What if my knees hold up?
BiBunny said:Funny, I have the opposite problem, LOL. Around here, plus size=short. Everything I own is two miles too wide, and too miles to short. I'm tall and built like a man (large arms, large chest, fat settles around the tummy), so most shirts and a good number of pants are too wide and too short. Can't win for losing, can we?![]()

CutieMouse said:I don't know that it's a hard and fast "rule" per say, and Ebony's right- let the mirror be your guide, but there is no way in hell you'll see me out in public in a skirt or dress more than 2" above my knees now.
I'm in my mid-30s. Let the college kidlets wear the short skirts; I'll stick with the more conservative things that leave men dying to know what's underneath.![]()
CutieMouse said:My current unlaced measurements are (roughly) 35/29/38.
My corsetted measurements are (generally) 36/25½/39 (to 40).
I prefer to be laced when wearing dresses or skirts; a 14" (ish) differential in hip to waist measurement throws most pencil skirts right out the window. for example, I tried on a *KILLER* 1947/48 wool suit with a pencil skirt today, and I could lace down small enough to fit it through the waist, but the seams were straining at the hips, and I couldn't bring the zipper up.![]()
