Not getting it on so many levels...

Cutie, how tall are you? I just wanna know if I can effectively hide behind you. <wink>

*sigh* Now I'm really jealous.

It's a pain the ass, I assure you. Pants are always too short; shirts are always too short; skirts are always too short. Not to mention that capris end up looking like Bermudas. (I'm 5'9" barefoot and somewhere around the 6' mark in most of my rarely-worn heels.)

Well, I recently bought a pair of capri's - they reach my ankles. I bought a pair of PETITE jeans, they have to be rolled up. Plus they assume that if you're plus size that means you're tall - so tights and other things that are impossible to hem are a PAIN IN THE ASS to buy.

Yep there is. No knees over the age of 35 should be seen. I wish more women would look before they leap. There is nothing worse than seeing a pair of ugly knees in a mini skirt.

Don't be.

I was in the center back row of every class picture from kindergarden forward. I've been this tall since I was 10- boys in Jr. high and high school go after cute little petite girls, not girls who (physically) look down on them. I wore ballet flats to Homecoming, Prom, my college sorority formals, and my wedding. I read an article online the other day, that talked about how women 5'8" and over are considered "really tall", and how much less likely men are to approach or ask them out. It's only in the last year or two I've decided to stop trying to "look shorter" and give into my love of high heels; I still sometimes feel awkward when I realize I'm an entire head taller than most people in the room.

Do you ever get, "Why do you wear heels? You're tall enough."? I swear, that's the fastest way to annoy a tall person. It also annoys me to see short women dating tall men. You don't NEED that tall of a man to look normal with, honey. Leave the over-six-footers for me.

You're probably right about men not wanting to ask out "really tall" women. I'm pretty sure my height is one reason I'm often told I'm intimidating.

Funny, I have the opposite problem, LOL. Around here, plus size=short. Everything I own is two miles too wide, and too miles to short. I'm tall and built like a man (large arms, large chest, fat settles around the tummy), so most shirts and a good number of pants are too wide and too short. Can't win for losing, can we?

I have two years and a couple of months left to show my knees? I hadn't thought of it like that. I usually wear skirts that end just above the knee. But no knees at all after 35?

What if my knees hold up?

There are women in their 20s with bad saggy knees. I say let your mirror be your guide.

Bunny I have the same build. Broad shoulders, muscular upper arms, and yes the fat around the tummy thing. However my legs are long and slim, I have no hips (even though I birthed two children naturally). I'm 5'8 tall, and from the back I look like a transexual

It's hard to buy a bra. I am a B cup if I'm lucky. They are all too tight in the back, and I have to buy bra extenders so they aren't too uncomfortable.

Jeans are long enough, but try to get them to fit round the waist and the legs are too baggy  And don't get me started on the low rise "waists" I hate them with a passion! I need at least to come up to just below my belly button not my pubic bone

I have to buy XL or size 16 tops from the trendy stores, they are all made for petite girls. I'm average weight for my height, BMI of 24. I work out 2-3 times a week and do weight training to firm and tone.

I don't know that it's a hard and fast "rule" per say, and Ebony's right- let the mirror be your guide, but there is no way in hell you'll see me out in public in a skirt or dress more than 2" above my knees now.

I'm in my mid-30s. Let the college kidlets wear the short skirts; I'll stick with the more conservative things that leave men dying to know what's underneath. ;)

Oh, let me be clear. I don't really wear minis. They just aren't my thing. I'm more about the pencil skirt. But most of my skirts hit just above the knee. The knee is exposed! ;)

My current unlaced measurements are (roughly) 35/29/38.

My corsetted measurements are (generally) 36/25½/39 (to 40).

I prefer to be laced when wearing dresses or skirts; a 14" (ish) differential in hip to waist measurement throws most pencil skirts right out the window. for example, I tried on a *KILLER* 1947/48 wool suit with a pencil skirt today, and I could lace down small enough to fit it through the waist, but the seams were straining at the hips, and I couldn't bring the zipper up. :(

Ahhh...I had never thought about this!

I like your body. It has great potential as a human shield! <grin>. I'm 5'4'' in flats, but that rarely happens. I'm heels girl, myself.

I've got problems in the off the rack dept. too. Usually a size 5/6 canadian/US with a 9/10 bust line. Grr.

Honestly, as much as I complain about it, I like my body. It's not the best, it's not the worst, but it's mine. Maybe it's part of getting a bit (pfft) older.

At this point, I figure a gift is a gift. Just smile and say 'thank you'.

I'd like to get back down to a 36" hip measurement, but I'm not sure my bones will listen to me. LOL

Don't forget the shirts that fit you perfectly in the torso and end way above your wrists.
And why do they have to put the size of the back of bowling shoes, for Chrissake?
When I went to prom I actually stood up and gauged whether I should wear heels to dance with people. Nowadays I stick to kitten heels if I wear them at all. My balance isn't very reliable at the moment.
