We have a full diagram in this morning's paper of the Ponderosa parking lot in Ashland. This guy is just a shooter, not a sniper. He dipped that shot Saturday.

Chris just called. He's keeping his son today, who's out of school because all the area schools are having "nutcase" day, in respomse to Saturday night's shooting.

I've got stuff to do, but this, and the rain, may throw a kink in some things.

First, one is careful.

One gets a jack. I use a six ton hydraulic jack. I've seen guys use 10 and 20 ton jacks, but, if I can't lift it with a six ton, I don't want to be around it.

One also needs lots of blocks and wall studs to use to spread the load and to prop things while moving the jack around.

Lifting is usually done in stages, and a bit at a time.

The whole side of the house has settled because the sill - the bottom board under the first floor joists - has rotted and compressed. Total lift at the area we have started in is about and inch or so.

The house does have a brick foundation, which is in surprisingly decent shape, and is pretty level, too.

This is a picture of the house we finished in May. It made the front page of the local Real Estate section on 30 June.

These pictures look as beautiful as the ones you sent me on Saturday.

Apparently, the locals heads of the School Boards met last night and decided to close the area schools today. May not be a bad idea.

They seem to have somebody they're talking to out in the west end of town - about 10 minutes from here by interstate.

Rained out today, and short-handed. So it goes - it happens sometimes.

I've been resizing pictures - got to playing with it, and I seem to have figured it out.

Note the little deck. It was a change order, and not in the original plans. We had to get a secondary building permit for it.

The rear wing (one story) is the utility room, with the water heater, washer and dryer, and a really nice pantry and coat closet.

The rear door is on the left side of the rear wing.

This mantel you see was built on site by yours truly, as the original was long gone. The front door still, for some reason, had its original bevelled glass insert.

The floors are pine. There is a half-bath under the stair.

There was no good before picture of this shot.

This was the worst part of the structure. There was a hole in the roof, and some rot all the way down this side, and in the roof framing, too. All was repaired or replaced . . . .
