Their last album, Mardi Gras, was a real stinker IMHO. From what I've read, the other members complained that John Fogerty played too big a role in the band as singer/songwriter. So Fogerty let the others contribute and the album's quality suffered for it. Apparently, in the Rolling Stone review of the album, it started out with "In the future, Mardi Gras may be known as Fogerty's Revenge."

All that said, it does contain one one bright spot, which is also one of my favorite CCR songs.

Actually, it was two years, dearest. (Cosmo's came out in July of 1970). And they are all, really really good. I had them on vinyl, some also on 8 track, I think I had them all on cassette, and bought them all again on CD.

But their 6th and 7th albums? I'm not really a fan. It's like they burned so brightly that they burned out or something.

This was one of three songs I asked a guitar player to show me the basics of when I started learning electric. Way above my skill level, which made my skill level go up because I love this song and worked hard to learn it.

I still love the song.... and am still flirtin' with disaster every day. 🥰 🥰 🥰 🥰

Kris was absolutely amazing, and my admiration for his talent would be very hard to describe.

But ... in all fairness... when I think of this amazing man, and his astounding talent.... I always think of this... the song her wrote and Janis made hers. I have read they were very close... and this song... OMG...

He was an amazing songwriter. I have to say, I always preferred Janis's version of "Me and Bobby McGee" and Johnny Cash's version of "Sunday Morning Coming Down"

Birthday wishes to Don McLean, born this day, October 2, 1945, 79 years young. He's still recording, released an album earlier this year ("American Boys", haven't heard it so I can't speak as to how good it is). He's best known for one particular song (see below), though he's far from being a one-hit-wonder.
