Their last album, Mardi Gras, was a real stinker IMHO. From what I've read, the other members complained that John Fogerty played too big a role in the band as singer/songwriter. So Fogerty let the others contribute and the album's quality suffered for it. Apparently, in the Rolling Stone review of the album, it started out with "In the future, Mardi Gras may be known as Fogerty's Revenge."Cosmo's Factory is one of my all time, favorite albums. It is practically the sound of perfection.
But their 6th and 7th albums? I'm not really a fan. It's like they burned so brightly that they burned out or something.
All that said, it does contain one one bright spot, which is also one of my favorite CCR songs.
