Maybe you could try changing the attitude. Instead of hoping to find "Miss perfect" here simply have fun, enjoy the forums, make friends, though stay open for the possibility you might bump into her. Just dont expect anything.

When I got over my first divorce I felt very lonely. I was not used to live alone. I started to seek for a man that would fill my loneliness... it doesnt work that way. More you are desperate to find someone less chances you have finding them.
So I got used to be single after a while and started to enjoy it actually. Then I met my present husband in a chatroom..... 3 months later we met irl, 6 months later I moved to live with him, 14 months after that we were married. Will be 8 years in April. Seriously, less you expect to find someone better are the chances you will bump into someone really special :)

While that is still a lovely thing to hear, it ain't the most useful thing ever. Unless one or other of you women is willing to help me come to America and exploit being English and (allegedly) cute for all it's worth. In which case, I stand corrected.

For a few days, I thought I'd made some progress but the signals have been mixed - she reacts to hearing I got shot down by a girl with "her loss my gain", and I haven't heard anything for three days. This is fun. Consider yourself bumped.

That's very nice, and I can always do with more well wishes, but what part of this is "good on you" supposed to refer to? Look underneath the tangents and this is a tale of the Little Dom who Couldn't, which is a sad thing.
