OOC: A new superhuman team.

Genoine, you raise a fairly good point, it is taking a bit longer then expected. How ever this is an excellent chance to display your character personality, and perhaps the best chance to display it before they are effected by power, flash backs probably being the only other chance. So it may be best to enjoy the moment, on the other hand something should be started to get things away from these debates. Now I have good news, Raven is an old pro at these, he'll move the thread onto other things before long. Or if you prefer find an in game solution.

The quickest way to end the debates and move the thread on is to have your character leave. When strange things start happening they can find Elliot, or perhaps Elliot will find them before strange things start happening. In any case all the characters are connected now.

This is kind of boring for me so I'm going to cut out. No offense to anyone intended, it's my own fault mostly.

ok, got my concept cleared so now i'm posting my guy:

Name: Collin Andrews

Description: 5'10", 200 lbs ( little overweight), brown hair & eyes, no facial hair.

Powers/abilities: Elliots touch greatly heightens Collins intellegence (IQ 300+), and unlocks his powers, which are to make things. He becomes a inventor, creating new devices and materials. Eventually this will evolve into a suit of powered armor that will allow him to play with the big boys, but until then he's agadget man.

I don't have a hero name for him yet because I want to develope that in RP.

Background: In H>S> Collin was mostly a recluse. He was a RPG nerd ( played D&D) & a sci-fi fan, but was alos a decent student. After school he joined up with the Air Force and got into the communications field, where he now works as a phone tech for the city. He never married, & doesn't date much. He spends most of his time on his computer playing games.

*Makes a brief appearance using a friends computer*

This sound like someone real life persona ... Well sort of ...

Okay folks, please don't take offence here but I am going to go over a couple points.

First, if any of you are feeling left out, take a moment, go back and look at what you posted. Were you directing your character into the action, or did you just have them silently enter and sit in a corner, with the unreasonable expectation that the rest of us are to suddenly drop the current thread of story and head over in your direction? If you want to be part of the story, than be a part of it folks, don't just let things evolve around you, leaving yourself in a vacum. Trust me, the absolute worst thing to do in a rp thread is to have your character sit in a corner, by themselves, because thats where they will probably stay, if you don't take some other action...

Now, Abraxis, I had some need for help from your character, and his powers, later on in the thread, relating to the invention of a machine that could possibly negate the powers Elliots 'talent' activates, so that Roni would be finally faced with the chance to become normal again. But if you wish to go, so be it. Just know that no one was diliberately ignoring you. I, myself, didn't even see where you posted to the in character thread, otherwise I would have had Elliot give you a greeting.

Genoine, I too feel it its taking longer than needed to get everyone to accept the idea of joining Elliot, I never really thought it would be that hard of a decision, becoming super powered. But thats how people are playing it off. The best I can do is speed time up, have the rest of the night go by in a single post and leave it at a point where it is your characters who will need to get in contact with Elliot from then on. But like I pointed out before, when you leave a thread at a point where you are the guy sitting in a corner, waiting for the people to come to him, well, its a dangerous gambit for sure.

actually, it was more of a problem working the character in & making him viable in a logical timeline. Keepin mind he would be going from a normal worker-bee for the phone co. to a inventor/scientist. that would take literally years of setup to do, with most of that creating & patenting things to sell for money to make the aforementioned labratories. Also, building & creating all of this solo would add even more time to the viability timeline. In re-evaluating my character, I would need to do some major changes to his background & storyline, & I'm still muddling through how that might work. (currently, I'm thinking he's your old 7th grade science teacher who you hit with your touch when puberty activated your powers. By now he would have had almost 20 years to develop his abilities, but at 64 years old he can't really be a hardline superhero, unless he or another character comes up with something).
Any suggestions from anyone else?

Elliot does have the resources to support your characters needs, think of my character as something of a Smallville's Lex Luthor, anything you need, he can get for you. :)

(Its all those under the table deals he's made that no one knows about. How do you think we are going to have super villains to fight? Its all Elliots fault after all!!!)

Oooo... Can we keep the Teacher as a player controlled NPC? We are going to need the "R&D" department. Having Elliot's resources are OK but... we still need to have the ability to do some things in house as opposed to farming them out to others. I was wondering how to set Ike up with a lab to run tests on people/investigate how to reverse the process (i.e. Roni) etc. So having someone who is already set up with that would be good.

*looks over character list briefly*
OK at this point we have a couple of healer types, a couple of telepaths/empaths, Puddle boy, invisible man, Animal girl, one power booster, one fix-it shop, one metal man(tank), one elemental user, one speed demon, one undeclared

Looks like we are missing a fly boy/teleport/transportation type... If you are looking at something to round out what we have...

Well, I seem to be in the minority about the time thing, which in retrospect I realize I should probably not have shared to begin with. The last thing I’m looking to do is alienate myself when new to Literotica. :)

About feeling left out, you have a valid point.
However this was not my personal complaint, I simply brought it up in addition to my own concern because a character that I found to be intriguing was suddenly dropping out.
My beef had more to do with the ongoing melodrama that was causing the story to creep painfully forward. I deliberately moved my character over to the sidelines to wait out the angst, which I find to be tiresome when it sets the initial tone for a game. To me, there’s a difference between being dramatic around familiars and being dramatic during an introductory process among strangers.
I think I'll continue to keep Catrina on the side and ride out the storm, then become involved when the plot has evolved a bit more.
Thanks for the thoughts though.

^shrug^ Me I like to develop my characters. By having us show up at the reunion without having powers first - you have to expect some will not react in a positive way. (No offence meant Raven) Otherwise the scene should have started after everyone received their powers and were learning to deal with them. As it stands now, about a half of the group are displaying powers.

OK at this point this is what I see from looking on the outside -

The move of characters away fromthe gym - peoploe are running off/away. Raven, the longer Elliot stays out in the parking lot, the more likely it appears that the remaining ones there will run off without getting their powers at this time (with the associated chaos in the parking lot this appears a certainty).

At this point I have moved Ike to reaction mode. I'm not going to initiate an action, just react to what others are doing around her. If Ryan chooses to leave before Elliot returns to the gym (Dan's arrival bought some time), she will be going with him.

I could offer retrofit ideas, but I hate doing that personally.

me & Raven worked on some building ideas to go into the thread ( superhero teams have gadgets, right??? Well, we came up with some!), so once we move into the next day & get to the base, things should start moving right along. My character is going to be a player-run NPC. I won't go out & fight ( like I told Raven, my friggin IQ is over 500, i got more sense than to get blasted by a bad guy!!!) but I will be the one who equips everyone out, Including with labs & other special items!!!

The only thing that I need is the normal super hero suit that disappears when my character does so I don't have to run around naked all the time (that could get terribly cold for my character).

He does go invisible but he can also go insubstantial when he is stressed or in times of great need.

Heh. Well, my character will need a way to communicate.
No ears or mouth. Vunderbar.

My character could act as interpreter until they design some sort of device for him, if you'd like.

Elliot, Lilly and Greg should be on their way back to the gym in just a moment, its almost time for Cliff to strike!!!

I am alive (really, I am...) and look! character movement. I was planning personally on playing things by ear (in a way...) but if people started leaving and I was still all alone, my character was going to go up and talk to Elliot himself. So either way is good for me. My character can hang back and let the drama unfold, or she can jump right in.

A brawl? My god P.L.! Elliot's a scientist, not a millitant!!! However, the need for physical cohersion may not be too far outside the realm of possibility where Cliff is concerned.

Oh Clifton... Perhaps a demonstration of your powers is in order? I'm pretty sure Idream of bunnies is out for good, so we do have a prime victim for a drowning out in the parking lot... What better way to put the fear into these powerless fools than to KILL someone? Someone with the power to heal? Someone remarkably strong? *Shivering.*

Hey don't tell him to kill Alexis no matter how strong she is!

Okay folks, I think what needs to be done to save this thread from dying, and I sence that it is coming very close to its demise at the moment, is to gloss over the rest of the night.

Have the story resume when everyone has had the chance to calm down, and not be so bitchy about Elliot's proposal, have them come back to him.

Because, I don't know about the rest of you, but the melodrama is getting to be alittle too much, even for me.

works for me...how far ahead are we skipping? Cause my character (I was hoping...) was going to come find Elliot after about two days, before she's quite fully changed.
