OOC/Casting Call for Fred Saberhagen's Swords

There was the race of large white hands lurking in the opening of the treasurery. Other than that, nothing else intelligent. They had those bridled fighting cats, but they did not seem intelligent. He could be a demon though. Those existed.

That's true. And demons did have magic-ish powers. Although, you can't really describe how a demon looks, can you? I suppose you could describe what they keep their life in, and where it is.

And we know they can use swords, because of the one that used Sheildbreaker at the end of the series.

That's right-at the end, only one sword survived! Guess the sword, and win it for your character!

Sheesh, I never finished reading all the lost sword books so I dont know. But at a guess............. Woundhealer. It would be in everyones best interest for that one to survive, no matter what side you were on.

Stumbles in with the help of a hefty kick from Mage

rubs ass absentmindedly as she looks around

Ok, Ok, I'm in.

will post a character soon :)

Yay! Okay, I've got to throw this out there. The swords have only been around for about a year. While becoming famous (The Gods DID make them, after all) their full powers aren't exactly know, nor their weaknesses. And Chewy, you can't have Woundhealer unless it isn't claimed by the time the thread officially starts. Which will be the day after my birthday. Therefore it will start July 10.

I wouldn't mind having a sword, surprise me with something.

As for magical items, I didn't want anything too pwerful. I was thinking of a ring that doubled the healing time of wounds. So, if a cut took two days to heal, it would only take one. And perhaps a ring of Wandering. If you ask it to point north, it does, or if you want to go to a specific town, or castle or forest, just ask and it'll point the right way. (It doesn't tell you where people are, or specific items, but geographical places)
You know, things that are helpful, but not particularly powerful.

So, what is the basic plot of this? Are we supposed to use the swords to kill gods, or protect the swords from destruction, or what?

The plot? Okay, the Gods, they're pissed. Their ultimate power is in question. Their own game has turned on them, and they are subject to lose their power over all. So, basically, you just have the swords, and are doing whatever, but the Gods come to you. They want the swords back, and you finally have the power to say "No! Fuck off!"

And no ring of wandering. You can have Wayfinder though, and it's powers are about the same. You want a wound-healing ring thingy, okay. But limit one magic item per character. So, you get the Sword of Wisdom!

Ahhhh,.....but how did it survive Sheildbreaker? (That's right, by the way.)

Yes, bow to the powers of overweening logic. Muuuuaaaahhhaaaahh. Ummm....I have no frickin clue how it survived Shieldbreaker, unless the person wielding it dropped it before impact, so that the weapon was not being used to threaten Shieldbreaker.

Sword of wisdom? Kick ass!
Ok, sounds like fun, I think I'll be looking forward to this.

Actually, the weilder of Wounderhealer, our good friend the Emporer's Son, and Jord's too, I suppose, anyway, he stabbed himself, and the demon Stabbed him in the heart with Sheildbreaker.

It seems once that particular sword goes into your heart, and you're still alive, the ownership changes to you, but is still in control of the person weilding it.

So it basically destroyed itself. Freaky, huh?

And yes, Wayfinder is also known as the Sword of Wisdom, for, not only does it lead you to your goal, but any one or thing you may need to help you get your goal. Granted, it picks the most dangerous route, but that's what you get for following a weapon....

Well, that was definetly a different way to destroy Shieldbreaker. I always liked that sword, but Town Saver was cool too.

Chewey

My favorite was always Farslayer. I especially loved in Farslayer's story, he sends it to kill a demon, whose life is in a wallet, in a guys breast pocket.

Ended two lives on one throw. Whoo!

Farslayer was pretty cool, that was the first one to slay a god right? Did it not kill Mercury? I just liked the way that Town Saver created the bladeswidth of death to those attacking innocents. A nice concept to be sure.

Chewey

Yep. And yep. But still, I liked the fact that Farslayer was used in the way it was. Besides, it was cool the way it was thrown to kill someone out in the desert, and lost for a while.

Hey, anyone know when Coinspinner was lost? I remember the one guy trying to destroy it, but it went off. I can't remember when it bit the big one....or did it?

Hi GM,

I'll take...hmmm... the doughnut and fiver... nope that's not right...

I'll take Doomgiver aka Sword of Justice, and I'd like to be an Emperor's child if that's possible.

One question, does the Doomgiver harm the demons, because it says what injury is hurled, it gets returned back. Does that apply to demon/s?

Z

Okay. Doomgiver's yours. Heads. You is. And as for demons, they're considered as weapons, so if someone is controlling them with their life, they'll get hurt, if not, demon takes a hit.

Thanks Mage,

I'll prepare and post a full char later... *gasp* RL is intruding right now ... won't take long... just after I finish my doughnut and coke

Z

But, as an Emperor's child, it really doesn't matter. For, with a simple call of "In the Emperor's Name!" or "In the Emperor's Name I banish you!" you can send all demons in the area way far away.

Oh, but you don't know this yet. In fact, no one does!

LOL,

That's why my char is going to be something like Virginal Birth or something like that... ignoramus almost till the end... hehehe

:D Z

No Immaculate Conceptions!

Usually the Emperor takes women while wearing a mask. Grey. That's how the main character was born. On his mother's wedding night, nonetheless! But there are these parties out in the country, where women and men go out afterwords, and,...well,.....have a little party of their own.

Wouldn't be unheard of for a traveler to take a woman and be gone by morning. And little babies pop up across the world....

LOL Immaculate Comceptions...that's the word I was looking for..

I didn't know that unless I'm an ignoramus and ignored that the Emperor's color is gray... LOL... it's party time and the great forest and soft pine needles on the ground is great for a LAWN PARTY!

Character #1 (Default)

Name: Gregor Mendal
Age: 27
Sex: Male.
Occupation: (Ex-) Red Temple Guard.
Sword: Farslayer.
Hair: Black, short.
Eyes: Grey.

Appearance: He wears a pair of loose black slacks, and thick black boots. His shirt is black, with a deep red vest over it. He has a thick brown leather belt covered in pouched around his waist, on it is a regular black scabbard which proudly displays the black hilt and target on it. His eyes are cool and calculating, and he knows his way around.

Bio: Gregor was the kind of guard that could always help you get where you needed to go, for a price. After building himself a small fortune, he found a junkie who offered him the sword to get inside. Recognizing the marks on the black hilt, he took the sword and left. While still considered a Red Temple Guard, he guards nothing, but knows how to get into any of the popular temples, should he ever need to.
