Orlando Pulse Massacre 2016

Suppressors ARE legal in the US subject to NFA requirements and state restrictions. I'm unaware of even a single case of a lawfully possessed suppressor being used in any crime. There are around 10 prosecutions per YEAR for suppressor offenses.

TEN (Lexis/Westlaw)

Go ahead and ban them completely. That will drop the suppressor related crime rate to about... perhaps TEN offenses per year.

Do ANY of you fact find before you post?

And the AR-15 is NOT a military rifle. The M-16 is.

@BlackWolf, of course it's illegal to go killing people. That was the point. You think someone that is willing to kill a few dozen people gives a rats ass if he breaks a few laws acquiring (or as someone pointed out, making) his weapons? Don't be foolish.

Let's see if "Wolf" or "sr" can respond to this civilly. I bet not...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AR-15

The AR-15 is a military and civilian rifle that has been produced in many different versions. The term AR-15 was chosen by Colt for the civilian models it produced after selling the rifle to the U.S. military as the M16 rifle, and many people and references use the term AR-15 exclusively for civilian models.

The Government of Canada classifies the AR-15 (and its variants) as a restricted firearm. For anyone wanting to lawfully own an AR-15, they must obtain a Possession and Acquisition License (PAL) valid for restricted firearms (RPAL) and then each acquisition of a restricted class firearm is subject to approval by the Chief Firearms Officer (CFO) of the would-be buyer's province of residence.[35][36] With the introduction of strict gun control measures by former Prime Minister Jean Chretien (Bill C-68), the AR-15 had been intended to be classified as a prohibited firearm, making it impossible to privately own one. However, due to the presence of nationwide Service Rifle target shooting competitions, the AR-15 was granted a sporting exception.[

You're aware that Orlando is in the United States, I assume?

I likewise assume you're aware "the United States" is in fact a fallacy.

1] When watching cases on "The Practice" (much of which took place in Massachusetts), I was often surprised to be reminded that as of the 1990s, it was a "commonwealth" & not a "state" (much as "Rhode Island" is not an island).

2] Orlando, Charleston... Maybe parts of the South are choosing individual times to attempt to "rise again", &/or maybe they are reminding people like yourself who believed the BS that this country is not now nor may ever be United.

That's a bold move...Politicians refusing to do any work. Wow

It gets better... They're doing it "over nonaction...". How complicated can this "Battle of Who Could Do Less" (ala Ben Folds Five) get?!

Also, equal parts question & suggestion: Don't call it a "grand jury" unless they actually accomplish something, &/or anything they say or do affects what does or does not happen later.

Trying to show you can have your cake and eat it too. Sort of.

If I chose under my countries laws, I could have a 9mm semi-auto handgun in a locked box with a clip in the box in my nightstand for home protection. I will admit if they are coming through you bedroom door it may not be accessible quick enough but shy of that you could be armed quite quickly.

As a sport shooter I could obtain an AR-15. Lousy hunting gun. Some weight absorbs recoil and your not lugging 150lbs of combat gear too. Ammo is pricey. Better hunting semi-autos than an AR out there for way less money.

And I have no 'right' to this. But as my country has good laws and screening it is quite safe for me and the general public for these guns to be owned. We have a right to traditional customs and traditions which include hunting. No way all of our guns can get taken away from us.

But as a law and order nation were peace, order and good government are the key words that can change. Would not take much for a referendum up here to swing the whole country, if not completely, anti-gun. Then enough to get rid of handguns and AR style weapons, period.

When I was in, you could carry 200 rounds of 7.62 NATO rounds. With the 5.56 round and Mattel plastic parts you can carry 500 rounds.

Must be some serious pussies in Canada.

In the US Army your combat load is 800 rounds of 7.62x51NATO or 720 rounds of 5.56NATO in mags + another 500 boxed in the assault pack.

You're a fucking moron and you don't know shit about AR-15's or hunting apparently.

Go ahead and ban all guns. Then people will stop using them and nobody will get shot.

That's how we solved the drug problem in The United States after all, right? When was the last time you heard about a drug overdose?

Not too many seven-year-olds OD'ing these days.

Great diversion. Not responsive in any way though.

Drug addiction is a continuing problem throughout the United States, which has very strict drug laws. These laws do nothing to prevent addiction, overdoses or deaths.

Oh, by the way, 60,000 kids OD every year. Some rx, some recreational, some by accident and some through addiction. That's just kids. The adult drug problem is FAR worse.

Additional gun control laws on top of the impossible to enforce mess of contradictory and useless ones we already have will do nothing whatsoever to make you safer. In fact, they will make you less safe.

From things I read Florida's drug problem, gun problem, gay problem, and allegator problem is just fine. It's the tourists that are the problem.

Same goes for you... And add everything else that exists to that list, starting with the difference between a computer monitor & a mirror.

Oh wow did you think of that all on your own champ?

Considering the sheer numbers of OD's in the US each year kills 7-8x as many people as all gun deaths do, I'd be willing to bet that's not true.

Orlando's certainly having a bad week.
Some of our kids from midwest just got home from there.
I can't figure the little boy deal. Supposedly it was a resort with a swimming beach. Yet gators were in the lake.

Most Florida lakes we've been near or in there are signs with a picture of some big lizard on it.

What now shocks me is we used to go boating wtih friends on the Suwannee than swam off little islands as gators starred and smiled.

We've hiked narrow paths near Gainesville and near the Gulf, walking close to sunning gators. Been told they don't bother us if we don't bother them. Seemed to work.
But like some of these members, it only takes one pissed off to atttach.

I can't imagine that that lake isn't marked as no swimming (I haven't seen one way or the other). But the boy wasn't really swimming, it was getting dark, they were distracted by fireworks, and it was a fantasy land theme park. I can see a couple from Nebraska being lulled into a feeling of homogenized fantasyland safety. Also in not having an eye on a toddler every single moment of their lives (as happened at the Cincinnati zoo). I can only cringe at what I got into alone as a toddler and somehow survived without a helicopter parent--and a nitpicking society--hovering over me.

This all happened off a fake beach. Wonder what signs they had about going into the water from a beach they put there by the water.

They pulled four alligators out of that lake the next day without finding human parts in them. How many more they subsequently pulled out of the lake, though, I don't know. You don't have a body of water in Florida without an alligator in it, and I did a double take on the question by a GB poster of why there would be an alligator in a man-built lake. Well, because there will be an alligator in your bathtub in Florida if you leave water sitting in it.

Some of the posts to the GB coverage of this are typically (of the GB) sick. Both parents went into the water to try to wrestle the child (who probably already was dead) away. It's just sick to go after them or make fun of any of this as was done on the GB here. Just sick. The parents must be beside them in grief--they deserve our sympathy, not our arm-chair second guessing and sick jokes.

Quitter!

I don't recall, but I wouldn't make fun regardless when I could make a list of all the things you can think of on your own in this post. Lemme try...

DONE.

Watched some "Will & Grace" repeats today on the Logo channel. 90% of the time, the screen also contained a "hashtag" regarding "WEAREORLANDO", & between episodes, they ran a list of names & ages of the deceased. A few of my thoughts:

1] I've never been to Florida, & while I'm not supporting what happened or anyone/anything connected in any way, I am also not saying I "am" Orlando, & part of me is happy I was not there & may now never be... I would never have been in a gay club/bar, but odds are guy hag gun(s) & ability to use it/them before he got in area of the bar.

2] Saw many deceased were young, including many younger than me... But that (clearly) means I'm older than they lived to be (the fact that I lived to this age & they didn't is not the fault of either of us), yet many can't name one thing I've truly "accomplished" in my life (including being hired at a single job).... So excuse me if I see some ages on that list & wish I could switch places.

You should seek counseling.

You should seek counseling.

You should seek topics & not posting at all otherwise. (Hoping someone else will remove that one, & maybe other not-on-topic, personally-directed posts.)

Also, realized since posting that I'd be afraid to travel to Orlando or lots of other places any time soon... While that man, Columbine, & many others have also died themselves, who can say someone else with similar feelings, etc. won't take this as a sign/reason to also take action?!

Denny---<-----that's me! The male half

Don't be afraid to go to Orlando or any other American city. These things can happen anyplace. Most of us are just lucky.
I'd fear Detroit or Chicago more. I've been to all three places and realize there are even other dangerous cities with crime everyday.

The world continues to change as people give up on a future and become filled with hatred.
