Perfect Albums

First instinct is London Calling, a truly great album by a band at their peak which shows their mastery of many musical styles but it’s been chosen already.

So my my nomination is International Velvet by Catatonia, an album of spirit and humour, with not a bad song on it.

Chris Rea-Road to Hell.....The album just has such a nice flow from start to finish, with some incredible guitar moments, a very worthwhile listen on a good sound system or headphones loud

I love that album with Texas being my favorite ... May he rest in peace

Third of my triumvirate of legendary Kinks albums (actually #2 in chronological order):

Lola vs. Powerman and the Moneygoround

It's my second favorite Kinks album after Muswell Hillbillies (Arthur is #3).
With a massive hit like Lola, it features awesome songs like Apeman, Rats, Denmark Street, This Time Tomorrow, the Dave Davies penned Strangers, and the immensely powerful Get Back in Line.

It's mostly, but not all, about the music business, but as usual, a slice of British life.

Strangers:

I’d throw the kinks are the village green preservation society in there too.

They were such an amazing band!

Some more that spring to mind...

Black Sands - Bonobo
Everything Must Go - Manic Street Preachers
No.1 in Heaven - Sparks
Paranoid - Black Sabbath
Rumours - Fleetwood Mac
Dare! - Human League

I just went through this entire thread…

Never Mind The Bollocks is a perfect album. The sound is amazing, the production is great and the songs are all great too excellent. Even songs like liar and New York are all pretty good.

It was groundbreaking and brutal. No matter what you think of John Lydon this album was a statement and a great album. I have been listening to this since 1981/2, and it never gets old.

Steve Jones has a great guitar sound anyway, but they just nailed it on this his record.

Maybe the most brutal song I’ve ever heard in every respect..

And I must add that this was my favorite song on this album for the longest time.

Wore this one out in my early 20s. Ben Kweller has some really good albums and catchy tunes but Sha Sha is still my favorite. Recorded at the famous Muscle Shoals in Alabama when he was 19 years old. Just a great collection of rocknroll songs from start to finish.

Dire Straits - Dire Straits

Love Over Gold - Dire Straits

Four Way Street - Crosby Stills Nash & Young

The Cars - The Cars

Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - Beatles

Goodbye Yellowbrick Road - Elton Johm

Apologies is anyone already picked these, I didn't go through every post.
The cars were my first favorite band. Candy-O was the first album I bought with my own money.

The Cars is an amazing album too. But I give the edge to Candy-o. Maybe for the album cover. My wife dressed up like the cover of Candy-O for me a few times and that album just has the edge for me.

But they were both great albums. A great 1-2 punch out the gate.

Candy-o is great too. I have s slight preference for the first one.

I love this thread! Wish I had found it sooner! The "Album" is a lost form musical literature and art! I still buy CD's and Records for this very reason. There is something thats lost and almost, cheap about only listening to the "single hit". I LOVE finding a new album I haven't heard from artists I've always loved. It tells a story. It has character. Personality. But I digress....here are some of my favorite albums of all time...

Bridges to Bert - Leftover Salmon
Houses of the Holy - Led Zeppelin
Alice in Chains - Unplugged
Eric Clapton - Unplugged
New Moon Shine - James Taylor
The Good Life - Railroad Earth
Amen Corner - Railroad Earth
Elko - Railroad Earth
All Things Must Pass - George Harrison

There's so many more but I'll post as they pop into my head
