Pink Orchid 2024: Story Event for Women-Centric Erotica - Official Support Thread

I'm stalled on the story I had in mind for this. I expanded the scope of the story and it's bigger than I was expecting it to be.

I guess I should start writing mine. Ugh. I think I’ll do a sequel to my Lesbian-Incest-Masturbation triptych from a while back. A five way lesbian orgy. It’s flowing best right now and has enough female agency in play. Or is a little male agency okay too?

If yes, I’ll go with the original plan and do the origin story for my incestuous foster sisters who in fact have a high chance of the same mother per the DNA test their adopted father receives at the end of the story (he decides to go with the 2% chance otherwise so he can accept them being together as a lesbian couple that occasionally invites guys in for play, lol). Same characters appear in two of my stories on Lit for sexual activity. Sisters Next Door and Pool Hustle if anyone’s interested. ;)

"Girls Dorm Dreams" is flowing better right now and will probably be posted sooner. But, given inspiration and time, I plan to get to "Strangely Close Girls" in time too. Those are the titles with which I'm going. I may post both as part of the event, the first for sure since it's only female characters. At least one of them is descended from hippies. Sorry I couldn't set the tale in outer space, but my characters may go there at some point. :D

Nooo no no, submission window starts on the first of January 😁

A few more days! You can do it!
I don't understand what submission window means. If I submit now and note that it's for the Pink Orchid event Laurel would just give it a publish date for when the event goes live, right? I've submitted early for events many times before and this was how it was handled.
But alright I'll pull it.

That's the way it works.

Loved this event last year and if I can just stop scouring these forums for hours then I might get something written for this year's one.

If it works then okay. One of mine was once posted too early and I’ve been paranoid ever since and waited until the event starts 😀

I personally am not competing for any event prizes, so I don't care about early posting. I'll submit when it's done and Laurel can post as she will.

When I submitted my Amorous Goods story a week early one year, I put in the Admin Notes to publish it on October 1st, and it came out on that day.

So, I'd recommend anyone submitting now (early) just put that in the Admin Note to publish no earlier than January 1st.

I'm not following that. Isn't it the admins who need to use algorithms to do the sweeping up?
Ask anyone who writes in Loving Wives here about repeated low scores by kinkshame trolls. Their stories get frequent low votes and negative comments. From the tone and frequency of the comments I've seen and deleted on my stories, my theory is it's either a small number of people with bots and sockpuppet identities or a troll farm. Sweeps can't easily counter either of those. Meantime... :sigh: most readers just don't vote or leave feedback at all. You have to concentrate on the good recognition. I work hard on my stories, and when all I get is mediocre and bad recognition... I have depression issues.

Most of the depression is due to the fact that I prefer to be seduced by female agency or cooperation and there's been a large deficit of it in my life. Couple that with Asperger's syndrome and bipolar disorder, you got a chaotic mess.

I won't say more because I don't want to further derail the thread. Any Pink Orchids are definitely welcome here. :)

I just clicked "Publish" on mine. It's too long, but as I tried to edit it, I just added more to it. So, it's time to call a halt to editing and let it fail as is.

The Wolf and the Lamb has been published. A bit graphic, perhaps - and certainly not as beautiful or sensual as the 750 word story I sent in before the event officially started - but I reckon there is a good chance that I will have time to squeeze in another entry before the deadline has been reached. Working on two different stories for Valentine's for example, and I think one of them ought to fit. Time will tell. 💙

My story came out today too! I’m not sure if I’ll have more entries, but never say never. I will write a 750 story but I don’t know what about yet. I’ll probably skip Valentine’s, but then again our next collaboration is getting ready so we’ll probably post that in PO.

Stories will start to show in tag search, if not immediately then probably overnight, but you’re all welcome to advertise here too. I’ll probably read all of them eventually.

I like how you used the word "instagrammable" as an adjective. 💙

I haven’t read yours yet, but I’ll give you a honorary mention for your attention to detail… I was wondering why both our stories didn’t show up in the tag search when one did, and it took me a moment of serious peering to realize you’d tagged yours “pick orchid 2024” 😂

but I’ll give you a honorary mention for your attention to detail

Ehehe. About that.. Let's just say that I'm more of a creative writer than fidgeting over getting every little detail correctly. At least it has the proper "pink orchid" tag without the year included. Should I contact Laurel about something as small as this, you think? Normally I let little mistakes slide - but if it's in the search tags it might be an issue. Hmm..

No-one is ever going to search "pick Orchid" so you've just wasted a tag. One could say you've muzzled your story by ten percent, since you only get ten tags. Fidget the little details better next time, I reckon ;).
